(2015-16)

The activities of the Economics Association and Planning Forum were inaugurated by Ms. Tany Thomas, District Coordinator of Kudumbasree Unit, Ernakulam on 31tst July 2015. Ms. Tany Thomas gave an awareness on ‘Eco friendly cloth bags in the campus’ The Hand written Manuscript ‘Jalakam ’ was released by the Principal, Rev. Sr.Rethamma on the occasion.

  • A Workshop on ‘Research Methodology’ was given to III DC students as part of their research project by Dr. Martin Patrick on 25th June 2015.
  • The Students of the Department of Economics organized a Mega Fest entitled as ‘Eco Royal Fest, 2015’ on 17th August 2015.

  • The department organized the paper presentation session of Research Promotion Council of the college for the month of September. The papers were presented on 12th September 2015.
  • As per the directions of UGC, the department organized an exhibition on 26th November 2015 to impart awareness about the principles of our constitution. The preamble was read out on the same day. A seminar was also organized on the topic “Philosophy of Our Constitution” by Dr. N S Soman , Director School of Legal Studies, CUSAT.

  • A quiz competition was conducted on 27th November 2015 on ‘Fundamental Rights of Indian Constitution’ and Malavika R of I BA Economics won the first prize.
  • As part of the study of ‘Economics of Financial Market’, 9th Core- paper of Fifth semester, III DC Economics students were given an opportunity to visit the Cochin Stock Exchange on 18th September 2015. A talk was also given by Prof. Chadrasekharan Nair on ‘Financial planning and avenues for Investments’.

  • The third Mother Magdeline lecture was delivered on the topic ‘Wide Horizon in Oikonomia’ by Dr.Vidhya C.T, Assistant Professor, Centre for Economics and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad on 7th December 2015.
