Good morning! We are in the final stretch of the school year and the students have been working so very hard. I am privileged to have had the opportunity to be your child’s principal and to have spent time observing and participating in the many classroom activities. I have attached a tentative schedule with next year’s dates. This will allow for you to plan ahead and mark your calendars accordingly. The district website will also provide you with the overall 2017-18 year’s dates.

Track and Field: Track and field is scheduled for May 19th at Grandview Middle School. This activity is for our 3rd-5th graders and will consist of field and running events. Students are asked to bring a sack lunch that day. The students will begin at 9:30 and end at 2:45. All parents and families are welcome to cheer on their kids.

Fun Day: This school wide event will take place on May 23rd from 8:45-2:30. Sack lunches from Sodexo will be available or students may bring their own sack lunches. There will be 18 fun stations and a 45-minute break for lunch. The rain date is scheduled for May 24th but will become a shortened version.

Awards Assembly: The Awards Assembly is a time that we recognize the efforts of our students for citizenship, attendance, academics, and fitness. The start time for this is 9:00. Because much of the awards are focused upon our 3rd-5th activities, the K-2 students will be given their awards within the first part of the assembly and the 3rd-5th graders will receive their awards following that. The teachers from K-2 will notify you if your child is receiving an award since the bulk comes in grades 3-5.

Next year’s staff: Sadly, Mrs. Strohm, Mrs. Wallingford, and Mr. Rick will be leaving us. We have hired new teachers to take the opening in Kindergarten and music. We will also be getting a new 4th grade teacher so that all grades will be at 3 sections with the exception of Kindergarten at 4. There will be more information about these new individuals in the final email blast before summer.

Library Books:Parents, it's time for all of the library books to be returned to the media center byFriday, May 19. We hope that your child/ children have enjoyed the resources in the media center and we thank you for your cooperation in returning these books byFriday!
