This letter is in support of an H-1B petition submitted on behalf of Dr. Brocon Boone. We are offering Dr. Boone a temporary position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

The University of Mississippi Medical Center evolved from a two-year medical school that was established on the parent campus, the University of Mississippi, in 1903. The medical school was moved from the Oxford, Mississippi campus to Jackson, the state’s capitol, and in 1955 the Medical Center opened its doors for the first time. The University of Mississippi Medical Center is the diagnostic and treatment referral center for the entire state and is one of the foremost academic institutions in the Southeast. The Department of Orthopedic Surgery maintains a staff of fifteen physicians specializing in the care and treatment of a variety of bone and joint injuries.

We wish to employ Dr. Boone as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery for a period of three years from (mm/dd/yyyy) through (mm/dd/yyyy). The minimum requirements for this faculty position are a Doctor of Medicine degree and residency certification in Orthopedic Surgery. As an orthopedist at the Medical Center, Dr. Boone will be teaching residents and medical students as well as treating patients in an outpatient clinic, performing surgery, and treating inpatients at University Hospital. Dr. Boone will be compensated at an annual salary of $( ).

Dr. Boone is well qualified for this position. He attended medical school at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada where he received the Doctor of Medicine degree in 1972. He subsequently completed the requirements for training in orthopedic surgery in 1977 at the University of Western Ontario, and was awarded the specialist certificate from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 1978. In 1979, he entered private practice in Gephule, Ontario, Canada, and continued his practice there until 1997 when he joined the Orthopedic Department at John Hopkins.
