This assessment involves 3 tasks:
A logbook recording the activities related to outcome 1
· Show clients safe practice in using ICT for communication)
The logbook may be in print or electronic format and must be authenticated by the tutor or mentor.
The Logbook must record all the following
- Establishment of the clients current competence and email requirements by:
- Determining clients competence in use of hardware and software
- Determining clients communication needs
- Selecting a suitable web based email service provider
- Set up a web based email account for the client to:
- Send and receiving emails
- Email multiple recipients
- Attach text, music and image files
- Use zip files
- Scan images and saving to disk
- Encourage the client to use email safely by demonstrating how to:
- Check for viruses
- Manage emails
- Reduce spam
- Practice email etiquette
- Observe safety recommendations when using chat rooms
- Follow local protocols to ensure secure servers
- Providing practical support by:
- Providing front line support to client
- Referring the client to other sources of support
A Report
This report should NOT be based on an experience you have had with a client.
It is a piece of research you will carry out to find out about 2 of the 5 knowledge and skills items detailed below. (YOU MUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO THIS OR THE SUBMISSION WILL FAIL)
An account of how ICT can be used to support clients with special needs or language requirements. You may choose your own topic but the account must:
- Be between 500 and 750 words long
- Encompass at least two of the five knowledge and skills items of outcome two:
1. Identifying websites for those with special needs or those with specific language requirements
2. Evaluating websites against best practice guidance
3. Using assistive technologies
4. Changing software and keyboard settings
5. Using voice recognition and synthesis
- Demonstrate use of a methodology which is appropriate to the chosen topic
- Include information which is factually correct and relevant
- Illustrate an understanding of key principles and techniques
- Be clearly written and concise
7. Be presented in accepted report structure:
· Aims
· Objectives – Must be measurable e.g list/define/select/
· Methodology – what you did to find your information
· Results
· Conclusions
