RE: Paulding Northwest Atlanta AirportAirport Layout Plan Conditional Approval

Dear Mr. Swafford:

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), through its State Block Grant Program agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation, conditionallyapproves the Airport Layout Plan (ALP) for the Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport. This approval is subject to the following conditions:

  • Environmental approval is required from Georgia DOT and/or FAA prior to implementation of any proposed airport development;
  • Facilities and equipment are designed and constructed in accordance with current FAA Advisory Circulars and Orders, and coordinated with FAA Tech Ops;
  • All known obstructions to the future runway ends will be mitigated as proposed at the next airport improvement project, or as soon as practical, and all known potential man-made obstructions will be submitted for obstruction evaluation via FAA Form 7460-1online at
  • Anaeronautical survey is submitted and accepted via FAA Airports GIS and instrument approach procedures are requested with FAA Flight Proceduresin advance of anticipated runway construction affecting the threshold locations;
  • FAA Form 7460-1, Notice of Proposed Construction or Alteration, must be filed with the FAA online at least 60 days prior to the start of any airport construction in order to receive an airspace determination, and the recommendations of the determination are implemented; and
  • Our office should be notified at least five days prior to runway construction activity to facilitate withFAA Flight Proceduresin issuing applicable FDC NOTAMS. Local NOTAMS indicating any construction activity should be issued 72hours prior to start of construction.

Our conditional approval ofthe Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport ALP indicates all existing and proposed airport development shown meets current FAA airport design standards, as documented in FAA Advisory Circular(AC)150/5300-13Aovington MunicipalNorthwest

It is important to note, however, our approval does not represent a commitment to provide federal or state financial assistance in implementing any facilities shown on the plan, and does notimply we concur with justification for construction of any proposed airport development at this time.
