Standardized Dress Program

Hollingworth students participate in The Standardized Dress Program. It is expected that all students shall dress appropriately in order to ensure our optimal learning environment. Hollingworth's Standardized Dress Program is in effect every day. Please ensure that your child comes to school looking ready to learn in the correct clothing with his/her shirt tucked in every day! We want our students dressed for school success! Violators of our Standardized Dress Program may receive disciplinary action. Please direct any questions to school administration.

The Standardized Dress includes:

A.  Solid color white tops with collars. Polo shirts and turtlenecks in white are also permitted. Hollingworth blue POLO shirts are also permitted daily. T-shirts are not permitted unless they are school T-shirts with our Hollingworth logo, Accelerated Reader shirts, or Hollingworth Hawks T-shirts. T-shirts are ONLY permitted on Fridays. All tops must be tucked in throughout the school day!

B.  Jumpers, skirts, trousers, and shorts are to be navy blue only. Dark wash jeans, skinny jeans, or jeggings are not permitted. Shorts and skirts must be knee length. Longer skirts are permissible. Longer or shorter shorts are not permissible. Pedal pushers/capris are acceptable.

C.  For the purpose of safety and maintaining the continuity of the instructional program, the following clothing/dress is NOT ALLOWED at Hollingworth School:

1.  Shoes unsafe for active play (i.e. sandals, high tops, boots, ballet shoes, high heels, Heelys, platforms, steel toes, etc.) All shoes must be close-toed (cover toes), laced and tied correctly/tightly at all times.

2.  Hats with logos, improper pictures, characters and improperly worn. Plain hats are only permitted and are to be used for sun protection.

3.  Undergarments without appropriate outer clothing.

4.  Attire which signifies substances illegal for minors, out-of-school organizations, defaced military attire, clothing with questionable or suggestive printing or drawing.

5.  Any article of clothing without a collar. Jackets, sweaters, coats and sweatshirts without collars may be worn over a garment with a collar.

6.  Logos, lettering, or cartoon characters on shirts.

7. Over-sized or extra-long tops. All tops must be tucked in for safety purposes.

8. Flannel and see-through tops, shirts or blouses. All tops must be tucked in for safety purposes.

9. Clothing which does not cover shoulders, back or midriff (i.e. tank tops, crop tops, tube tops, etc.). Transparent clothing is not permitted.

10. Unusual or attention diverting attire. (i.e. - wording on backside of pants).

11. Overalls with one or both straps unfastened or worn off the shoulders.

12. Jeans. Jeans are only permitted on COLLEGE MONDAYS AND “TRUE BLUE” FRIDAYS. No jeans with holes or tears, please. Jeans must be in good condition.

13. Baggies or tight trousers, leggings or short shorts. Shorts must be slightly above the knee.

14. Sweat pants or sweat shorts.

15. Over-sized coats, jackets or sweat shirts.

16. Dangling or hoop earrings and piercings, on girls or boys. No long earrings are permitted.

17. Large belt buckles, over-sized belts. Belts must be looped through or tucked inside the belt loops.

18. Unnatural colored and/or dyed hair, spiked or big hair, and/or attention distracting hair (i.e. – mohawks, faux hawks or overly spikey hair are not allowed).

19. Any attire that symbolizes any form of gang activity or outside organization (except Scouts).

20. Any other dress or appearance (i.e. acrylic nails, nail polish, perfumed scents or cologne, make-up and temporary tattoos) which the Administration deems distracting or inappropriate.

*EACH WEEK WE ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO WEAR COLLEGE SHIRTS and JEANS on Mondays to promote our College Bound focus!

*EACH WEEK WE ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO WEAR HOLLINGWORTH T- SHIRTS and JEANS on Fridays to promote our “TRUE BLUE” SPIRIT DAYS!

If a student does not participate in our COLLEGE dress or “TRUE BLUE” dress they must wear a uniform! JEANS ARE ONLY ALLOWED WITH COLLEGE SHIRTS ON MONDAYS or HOLLINGWORTH BLUE SHIRTS ON FRIDAYS!

When in doubt, send your child to school in uniform!

**Please know that our Student Council will also be sponsoring some fun dress days throughout the year. A written notice and phone call will go home to inform you of our fun dress days.

Uniform Shirt Sales and Hollingworth Shirt Sales:

Uniforms may be purchased at: Target Stores, The Uniform Zone, J.C. Penney, Kids R Us, Burlington Coat Factory, Sears, Macy’s, Nordstrom, many used clothing stores, and other fine establishments.

Hollingworth logo shirts (T-shirts and polos) can be purchased through our HPTO. Please contact our front office for more information.
