Year 6 Website Notes – Term 4 2017
We can’t believe it is February already! We hope you have had a great start to the year. This term, we have continued to be incredibly impressed with our hard-working and determined Year Sixes.
Topics
Here are the topics we will be covering this term. Please feel free to research any of these areas as you wish, in whichever manner you choose, however please avoid copying and pasting from the Internet. Your teachers will be very pleased to share your work in class.
English:Journalistic writing and poetry
Maths:Percentages, measures and pie charts
Science: Light
Computing:Research and search engines
PSHE:Going for Gold
History:Local Study: WW2 in Northamptonshire
Art:Sketching
PE:Basketball and Real PE Unit 4
French:Listening, Speaking and Writing
*Please ensure your child has appropriate trainers for their PE session – there is an increase of school shoes being worn and this is against Health and Safety Policy.
Warmer clothes will be needed for PE as it is getting colder and we will continue to have an outdoor session once a week (weather permitting).
Please continue to support your child with reading at home at least five times a week. Spellings will be allocated and tested weekly, whilst times tables will be worked on daily and we value your help in practising these with your child at home. We intend on continuing to set Maths and English homework weekly, this will be given by the class teacher on Fridays, and expected to be completed by the following Wednesday.
Please continue to refer the ‘Genius Maths’ resource in the Year 6 area, on the school website:
