Respect / Middle School - January 2011
Respect is defined as showing consideration, understanding, and regard for people, places, and things. If you show respect, you will gain respect. We should all show respect for the health of our planet. Be sure to respect animals, plants, the environment, and yourself by showing consideration, understanding, and high regard to all that share the planet with us. It is important not to take things you see every day for granted!

Tree Report
Teachers, please label 50 pieces of paper; each containing one of the 50 United States and place them into a container. Have each of your students randomly pick one of the states out of the container and create a report on that state’s state tree. Have each student prepare a 5 minute presentation to give to the class. They can touch upon topics such as how the tree became the state tree, its scientific name, some characteristics of the tree, the climate conditions (temperature, rainfall, etc) it grows in, what animals depend upon the tree for shelter, food, etc. Students can use the following web site to conduct their research http://www.50states.com/tree/
