Riversong
The Senior Choir of St. John the Evangelist will be hosting "Riversong", a women's choral group from Moncton, New Brunswick on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. This group will be in St. John's for Festival 500 and will share their music ministry with us as part of their "Break Out Sunday" initiative.
We will be providing a pot luck lunch for our guests on that day. Parishioners are invited to join us for lunch with "Riversong". If you plan to attend, please sign the sheet at the back of the church to let us know how many will attend and what dish you plan to bring. Thanks so much for your help.

Today we celebrate the gift of family and give thanks for our children and youth who have completed another year in their educational pursuits. Some have finished their first year of kindergarden, some have completed high school and some have graduated from a post secondary program. We have so much to be proud of in our children - Congratulations one and all!!
On July 1st we celebrate Canada Day and begin the summer months of July and August when many families plan to take vacations. I trust everyone will enjoy some time of rest and relaxation while enjoying the great outdoors and spending time with family and friends. Whether these gatherings take place here at home as we welcome our visitors or some other place where we are welcomed as the visitors, I pray that we will find a church so that we may continue to worship God and give thanks for the abundant blessings we enjoy.
I also take this opportunity to invite us to continue our support of the ongoing ministry at St. John the Evangelist. As a Church we still need to meet our regular financial commitments during the summer months even though our attendance will be lower due to travel and holiday plans. We are very fortunate to have 31 parishoners who utilize electronic giving while others give post dated cheques for the period when they plan to be out of town. My prayer is that we will intentionally and prayerfully consider how we can each contribute to the financial health and well being of our parish, especially over the summer months.
Our Flower Service will be held on Wednesday evening July 24th beginning at 7:00 p.m. There will also be Evening Prayer in the Old Church on Sunday evenings during July and August. Please share these dates with family and friends.
May God continue to richly bless us as we enjoy the awesome beauty of summer that God so richly provides.
