LAKE WORTH CITIZENS’ POLICE ACADEMY

We are a non-profit 501-C-3 organization of concerned citizens that assists the Lake Worth Police Department in keeping our neighborhoods and retail areas as safe from crime as possible. In addition, we assist in community activities sponsored by the City of Lake Worth. Some of the things we are involved in are:

Easter Egg Hunt: This event is for children in the community, petting zoo, crafts, and bike raffle

Marine Creek Health and Safety Fair: Gathering of area cities of first responder resources

Home Depot Health and Safety Fair:

Coleson’s Relay: Assist with parking and other related activities

Home Football Games: Assist Police with traffic, parking, along with crowd control.

National Night Out: This event is a national event held each year by many Police Departments across the nation and is a fun night for family and friends.

Wal-Mart Bicycle Safety Fair: Assisting children in proper safety procedures of bicycles on a closed course.

Citizens’ Police Academy Community Fund Raiser Garage Sale: For financial support to our Police Department

Senior Thanksgiving Dinner: Assist with the Thanksgiving dinner each year for senior citizens in our community.

City of Lake Worth Christmas Tree Lighting: Assistance with parking and other activities.

Operation Santa Christmas Toy Drive: Christmas time assistance helping gather toys, shoes, and clothes for families in the Lake Worth area. The group assists in the wrapping and delivering of gifts just prior to Christmas.

We strive to be an extension of “THE EYES AND EARS” for the Lake Worth Police Department. In so doing we hope to add value to our community and help make all of us a little more safe and secure.

If you have an interest in joining our efforts, an application request form must be completed. Once completed your application will be reviewed and approved by the Lake Worth Chief of Police. Upon approval you will be scheduled to attend the Lake Worth Citizens’ Police Academy. You do not have to be a citizen of Lake Worth to join our organization, but you will need to show why you have an interest in joining.

In the class, members of the Lake Worth Police Department will teach you what they do to protect this city and go over items of conduct you are expected to follow as well as things to look for when you are assisting on patrol or community events.

If you have an interest in our community this may just be the opportunity to get you involved with a group of like minded folks that love and care about the future of our community. If you need further information, please email or contact Officer J. Smith at 817-237-1224.
