Minutes Bingham PTSA Board Meeting August 12, 2014
Those present: Pres. Sheri Mattle, Pres. Elect Debbie Kroll, Sec. Amy Janisch, and board members Chantal Brown, Kristen Pehrson, Dalesse Bowles, Darci Crossley, Tom Gatten, Principal Christen Richards-Khong, and Corey Fairholm
Welcome: Sheri Mattle thanked everyone for joining the PTSA board this year and Debbie Kroll gave an inspirational thought. Sheri excused Connie Chamberlain-treasurer from meeting as she is out of town. Sheri read a letter from Salt Lake County Project Linus thanking the Student Board/Service Club members for their donation of handmade fleece blankets.
Introductions: All members stated their names and positions on the board.
Minutes reviewed & approved for May: Darci Crossley motioned, Chantal Brown seconded.
Vote to approve Board as Constituted: Sheri Mattle motioned & Darci Crossley seconded for Debbie Kroll as President Elect & Michelle Koch -Senior Sunrise: board unanimously approved with 10 member vote.
Budget: Sheri Mattle passed out a copy of budget for review. The following was unanimously approved by board– Dalesse Bowles motioned Kristen Pehrson seconded.

Change Meeting Times: Board agreed future meetings will be on first Tuesday of the month.
Administration: Principal Christen Richards-Khong stated she would like to invite the board to a breakfast on Aug. 20th at 7:00 a.m. at Bingham High. Student board pres. & pres. elect also invited. Principal Richards-Khongwould like to pin the student board/service club members. Darci will get with the members and figure out a date. The PTSA will host a dinner for the teachers/staff during parent teacher conferences Oct. 8th.
Region/Council PTSA: Corey Fairholm attended meeting and answered questions from board. PTSA State Convention is May 14-15, 2015. Sheri encouraged all to attend. The board will be hosting a luncheon for Secondary council Sept. 25th @ Bingham High from 11:45am-2:00pm.
Legislative Issues: Sheri Mattle talked about the Inter-local Agreement and she is attending the Sage testing meetings.
Membership: The PTSA has 3 lines on the registration now: Adult, student and donation. Principal Christen Richards-Khan stated the school will pay for the teachers/staff memberships.
White Ribbon Week: Kristen Pehrson will check with Michelle Margetts about date that is scheduled for “Fight the New Drug” assembly- per previous meeting minutes date Mar 5, 2015.
Reflections: Dalesse Bowles commented that last year’s participation was low and wants to advertise more to get more participation this year. Dalesse asked for help from board- Darci Crossley volunteered to help. Dalesse asked about best place to make copies- Terra Linda Elementary School has a special printing facility open to anyone as long as its school related. The cost is much less than a printing/copying store.
Student Board: Darci Crossley stated they are getting organized and will be having a party for the foreign exchange students again. Bingham has 11 foreign exchange students this year. Sheri Mattle asked if Red Ribbon Week also cover Teen Dating &Violence Awareness & Prevention.
Grad Night: The board discussed how successful grad night was this last year however would like to look at what was spent where and what is worth keeping for this year’s party.
Sophomore Orientation: Mr. Farley asked the PTSA to cover the cost of a Dunk Tank for the sophomore registration on Aug. 14th. Sheri Mattle asked for volunteers however no one available so Sheri will see if Mr. Farley can arrange for a company to provide it and PTSA will pay for it. Sheri will also be getting prizes for a drawing.
Next Board Meeting: September 2, 2014 @ 10:00 a.m. in alumni room.
