Purpose of job

To provide catering support to service users.

Impact:

Main accountabilities

1.  Prepare, cook, bake and assist with service of all meals.

2.  Menu planning with customers ensuring their nutritional needs are met.

3.  Conduct regular stock checks to ensure adequate supplies are maintained.

4.  Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen.

5.  Follow agreed standards and procedures as determined by the RNIB, CQC and other agencies, including involvement in championing issues such as infection control

6.  Develop effective relationships with service users, families and colleagues.

7.  Complete daily worksheets and any other records necessary.

8. To take shared responsibility with other colleagues in the purchasing of stock / supplies.

9. To enhance and improve the customers wellbeing through inclusion in the decisions relating to further developments of the catering department.

10. To oversee the day to day running of the kitchen and the staff and reporting any issues as appropriate to the Manager.

11. Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the role.

1.  Specialist knowledge, skills and experience

1.1 Experience of cooking and baking within the Catering industry.

Desirable

1.2 Basic food hygiene certificate City and guilds 706 part 1 and 2 or equivalent qualification

1.3 Experience of cooking in a care home.

Ability to maintain high professional standards and the ability to follow quality assurance systems.
