WANT TO WORK IN A LEADING EDGE SCHOOL?

COME AND BE A PART OF OUR EXCITING FUTURE.

Teacher of Spanish and French

Permanent, Full time, MPS

Langtree School is the smallest secondary school in Oxfordshire, with a current roll of 570 fantastic students. However, our small size is our greatest strength as we are a community in which students are known and valued as individuals and in which they can thrive with the close support of a dedicated team of subject specialist teachers. Many parents choose Langtree for this reason, and we remain heavily oversubscribed for places in Key Stage 3; with over 350 applications in recent years for 112 Year 7 places.

Our successes have been significant in recent years. In March 2009 we were designated as an outstanding school by Ofsted, and redesignated as a specialist school in the Performing Arts. In 2010, we were rated as outstanding in an Ofsted inspection for Art and Design, as well as being designated as a High Performing Specialist School. In 2012 we converted to academy status, as well as securing Leading Edge status in the same year. In our most recent inspection under the new framework of 2013, we were rated as a very good school with outstanding features. Behaviour at Langtree is rated as outstanding overall. The future is very exciting at Langtree and this is a wonderful opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic teacher to join an ambitious and vibrant school with a very exciting future.

The Modern Foreign Languages curriculum at Langtree School involves the teaching of French, Spanish and German. All students take French in Year 7 and currently Germanis offered as a second language in Year 8. Spanish is offered as an option at KS4 and we have plans to offer Spanish to Year 8 in the future. As we are a high attaining specialist school, it is not uncommon for over 60% of our Year 8 cohort to take the second language option. At the end of Year 9 students can then opt to study 2 languages as dual linguists, or French or German or Spanish as a single language option. There is a small number of students who do not take a language forward to KS4.

Results at KS4 are consistently high: In 2013 82% of students in French achieved A* - C grades and 100% of students taking German also secured Grades A* - C, with 78% at either A* or A. These outstanding results reflect the very high calibre of students at Langtree who opt to study languages at GCSE.

Languages are taught in classrooms which are equipped with interactive whiteboards, data projectors and a networked PC for staff use. In addition students have access to a small cluster of six networked PCs and Langtree has three ICT suites for whole class use which can be booked on request.

We are now seeking an excellent Teacher of Spanish and Frenchto join our successful Modern Languages department to teach KS3 (Years 8 & 9).

I sincerely hope that, having read the information about this post and our school that you will be interested to apply and I look forward to hearing from you very much indeed.
