Executive Director
Job Description
The Executive Director of CASA for the Highland Lakes Area is an “exempt” position as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor. The Executive Director of CASA for the Highland Lakes Area will:
i. General
· Report to the Board of Directors on the overall activities and health of the organization and make recommendations as needed.
· Oversee the Program Director, staff and volunteers to ensure they are fulfilling their responsibilities.
· Develop a comprehensive communication system that includes volunteers, board, staff and relevant parties.
· Adhere to Texas CASA Standards, Policies and Procedures, and CASA for the Highland Lakes Area’s bylaws.
ii. Administrative
· Be responsible for overall administration and management in developing program, organizational and financial goals, insuring plans and policies of CASA for the Highland Lakes Area are mission related, cost-effective and incorporate the Board’s long-range strategy to accomplish the organizations goals and objectives.
· Work with Board President to prepare agendas, written communications and provide an Executive Director’s monthly report for CASA board meetings to provide information on the status of the organization and all important factors influencing it. Ensure follow-up.
· Maintain official records and documents to ensure compliance with federal, state, local and national laws and Texas CASA requirements.
· Develop and sustain close relationships with the state and national CASA organizations to ensure a working knowledge of significant developments effecting CASA.
· Ensure that vital documents and computer databases are appropriate preserved and backed up.
· Ensure that all required insurance is purchased and up to date.
iii. Budget and Income Generation
· Write and submit grant proposals, apply for ongoing and new state and federal funding, seek and solicit contributions from individuals, businesses, community organizations, and plan, execute and manage an effective fundraising strategy.
· Work with appropriate staff and the Finance Committee of the Board in preparing a recommended annual budget for Board approval; and ensure that CASA operates within the approved budget limits. Advise the Board of any recommended or necessary changes.
· Direct the development and maintenance of sound financial management practices and reports. Arrange for and participate in an annual professional financial audit.
· Supervised organizational funding strategies, working closely with the appropriate volunteer, staff or board member to support all fundraising efforts.
iv. Staff and Volunteers
· Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training and termination of all staff and volunteers.
· Maintain and provide a personnel policy manual for all employees.
· Set goals, access performance and measure results through annual employee performance reviews and evaluations.
· Prepare the agenda and lead all-staff team meetings at least monthly that include reports and issue discussions.
· Oversee annual recognition and appreciation programs for both staff and volunteers.
· Ensure that staff and volunteers are provided frequent and relevant education and professional training opportunities.
v. Public Interface
· Represent the programs and interests of CASA, maintain a cooperation relationship with other organizations and act as a professional liaison to courts, Child Protective Services, judges, District and County Attorneys, Commissioners’ Courts and other relevant court personnel, government agencies, private organizations, non-profit organizations and the general public.
· Publicize the mission and activities of the organizations, its goals, public service, accomplishments and activities.
vi. Facility and Equipment
· Arrange for appropriate building and equipment maintenance and insurance.
· Maintain a printed inventory of all equipment.
· Ensure that vital documents and computer databases are appropriates preserved and backed up.
