Primrose Hill C of E Primary Academy is a well-regarded and popular school which nurtures a caring and supportive environment. There are currently 217 pupils on roll in 8 classes. In addition to class teachers and teaching assistants there is a School Business Manager, who oversees a team of administrative, cleaning, premises and midday staff.

Midday Supervisor –Permanent Position

To commence immediately – term time only

Hours of work – Monday to Friday 12.00pm – 1.00pm

  • 5 hours a week
  • Term time only (38 weeks)
  • Grade C

Specifications and skills

  • The direct supervision, safety and welfare of pupils on school premises during the lunchtime break period.
  • Encouragement of good eating habits and acceptable behavior.
  • Confidentiality with reference to school issues and individual pupils at all times.
  • First aid certificate desirable or willingness to train to administer first aid.
  • Enthusiasm, commitment and a caring ethos.
  • A warm and friendly personality and someone who works well as part of a team.

Main duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervision of the use (by young pupils) of toilets and hand washing
  • Putting out tables and equipment prior to the start of lunchtime. At the end of the lunchtime session, ensure that all furniture and equipment are cleared away safely and that all areas are clean, tidy and safe.
  • The supervision of the pupils between the classroom and the dining area and , where necessary, assisting with putting on of coats
  • The supervision of pupils in their designated areas
  • Encouragement of good eating habits and acceptable behaviour while eating lunch
  • To be supportive and encourage pupils to eat the meal provided. To bring to the attention of the class teacher any particular problems.
  • Supervision of pupils returning trays, cutlery, beakers, waste to clearing points
  • Clearing up spills and wiping tables on completion of meals
  • Ensuring that pupils do not leave the school without permission and that the gates are under close supervision
  • Proactive supervision of the pupils in the playground/grass area during the meal break, caring for both their emotional and physical well being
  • First aid when required, completing relevant paperwork and reporting as required
  • Assisting generally during the meal break
  • Attendance on relevant training sessions when held
  • Confidentiality with reference to school issues and individual pupils at all times
  • Appropriate language should be used at all times when dealing with the pupils
  • Commitment to safeguarding pupils and acknowledgment of safer working practices
