Jeff Sinclair reported that he will be leaving the project at the end of the month. David Blackwell, who lives in Herkimer, will be taking over for him. Jeff Sinclair updated the committee on the progress of the project. The concrete work is completed on C & D pods and will be finished soon on A & B pods. The plumbers have started the plumbing in D pod. The cranes are on site, steel is being unloaded and erection should start today or tomorrow. The frost in the ground is affecting the laying of underground pipes. The matter is being evaluated to determine how to proceed.

John Ceresoli said that he had several cost saving proposals for the county to consider. They are:

1)Downsize pipe hangers for an estimated savings of $14,000.

2)Change the bath tile in the residents’ bathrooms from a 45 degree angle to a 90 degree angle for an estimated savings of $20,000.

3)Change the 2’ x 2’ ceiling tiles to a 2’ x 4” tile with a separator so that it looks like a 2’ x 2” tile, except for the lobby area, for an estimated savings of $50,000 - $70,000.

4)Change the windows from the Anderson brand to the Petri brand.

5)Change from using integral sheet vinyl along the bottom of the walls in the bedrooms to vinyl baseboard. There is no estimated cost yet.

6)Change the exterior French doors on the back of the building from the Anderson brand to the Pella brand because the Anderson doors are not handicapped accessible. There is no price difference.

Following discussion the committee agreed to have the architects get final cost savings on items 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6. Item 4 – windows will not be changed.

Jeff Sinclair presented the following cost savings proposal:

1)Change from using a piercing hanger on the metal decks to a metal deck with the hangers built in for an estimated savings of $45,000.

The committee agreed to have a final cost savings prepared for this proposal.

John Ceresoli presented different color choices for the bricks, roof shingles and aluminum roof panels. The committee indicated its preferences.

Krista Taskey presented possible choices for interior pieces, such as carpeting, wall lighting and doors. She said that a group needs to be set up to make decisions about furniture details and a contact named for her to call. Dennis Smith said that he would fax a list of names to her and Carl Higgins for this group. Dennis Smith also said that an inventory was done this past summer to determine what furniture and equipment will be moved to the new facility. He will send a list to Krista Taskey.

John Ceresoli asked if the county wants to add the smaller 26 car parking lot as a change order. The cost is $38,700 for grading, paving and electrical work. Representative Rothenberger moved for approval. Seconded, Puritz. Total: 6; Ayes: 6; Absent: Dubben, Swiderski. Motion carried.

There being no further business to discuss, the committee adjourned.
