Clinical Sites:Mannheim Congregational Site and other surrounding congregations, Glebe Centre, various health care such as Grand River Hospital and various long term health care sites
Supervisors:Kristine Lund, PhD, RP is PCE Supervisor, CASC,She supervises at Glebe Centre. Thomas St. James O'Connor, ThD, RP is PCE Supervisor, CASC and Approved Supervisor AAMFT. He supervises at hospitals and long term care. Gord Alton MDiv RP is Specialist in Pastoral Counselling, CASC and Spiritual Director Certificate (AMBS). He supervises at Mannheim and surrounding congregations and a long term care home.
Mannheim Congregational Site (for basic PCE students): This site involves providing pastoral care/counselling/spiritual direction within some ministry settings that are part of the Wilmot Mennonite Ministerial. The primary site will be at Mannheim Mennonite Church, a church of 50-60 people that has an active Living Room ministry, a faith-based peer support group geared toward supporting people living with mental health issues. Students will be counselling or spiritual directing people within the congregation and Living Room setting. The other ministry sites, not yet finalized, will be found within other congregations in the local Wilmot Mennonite Ministerialincluding Nithview Home. Each ministry site will provide amble opportunity for pastoral care, spiritual direction, and pastoral counselling along with small group facilitation around particular issues/spiritual themes. Each ministry site will have a coordinator who will guide the student in their ministry activities.
Health Care Facilities and Long Term Care:These various facilities include places like Grand River Hospital and various long term care facilities. Clients and residents in these facilities have a range of health care issues such as mental health, physical illnesses and disabilities.Students learn how to work short and long terms clinically and be part of the health care team.
Glebe Centre: This counselling agency is connected to WLS and clients can be short and long term. Contact Dr. Kris Lund if interested in this placement.
This extended PCE unit is held on Mondays -9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Basic students are also expected to do 4-6 hrs/wk of clinical work; Advance students are expected to do 8-10 hrs/wk of clinical work. For basic students, 125 supervised clinical hours are required; foradvanced students, 250 hours are required. This PCE unit will facilitate the CASC competencies as well as those of f the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO) of Ontario. The PCE unitoffers a graduate course that can be registered at WLS . In this PCE unit, there isindividual supervision, group supervision and Safe and Effective Use of Self (SEUS). Supervised clinical hours will count towards CASC,AAMFT, CRPO.
The dates are Sept. 14, 2017 to April 10/18. We meet allday Monday.Cost is $1400. which includes registering the PCE unit for the student in CASC. Bursaries are available.PCE unit can be counted as two courses at WLS. See Dan Philips at Seminary about this.
