Dorn Elementary Schoolis located in the well-established community of Hickory Hills, Illinois. Dorn serves Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade students. Our diverse population creates an environment where students become culturally aware of the uniqueness of one another. Each child is provided with an opportunity to succeed. The curriculum is based on Illinois State Standards and what is developmentally appropriate, focusing and building on each student’s strengths.

It is a pleasure to welcome you to
Dorn Elementary School.
We are looking forward to spending this year with you and your child. We are sure this year will be very successful.
In order for your child to participate in the various school activities we are requesting that the indicated supplies to be brought to school on the first day of classes.
Please put your student’s name on all supplies. Replenish supplies when needed. No liquid paper.
Please refrain from purchasing materials that have images that may cause disruption.
If your child receives special services, you may receive a supply list from that specific teacher within the
first week of school.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN
SUPPLY LIST
*1 backpack at least 14”x16” (large enough to fit a 2 pocket folder) No backpacks with wheels please.
*1 change of clothes
KINDERGARTEN SUPPLY LIST
*1 backpack at least 14”x16” (large enough to fit a 2pocket folder) No backpacks with wheels please.
*15 glue sticks – white or clear only
*2boxes of 24 Crayola crayons – Teachers would appreciate your cooperation in not buying “fat” crayons, large packages, or fluorescent colors
*12 sharpened #2 pencils
*1 pair “Fiskar for kids” pointed scissors
*2 pocket folders – bottom pocket
*1 4-pack thick Expo dry erase markers
*1 box of Kleenex tissues
*1container anti-bacterial wipes (No Clorox brand)
*1 roll paper towels
* 1 small rectangular pencil box
* 1 set of head phones
Boys: 1 box of sandwich size ziplock bags
Girls: 1 box of gallon size ziplock bags
Velcro closing or laced gym shoes for PE class-No slip-ons, fashion heels, slingbacks, or clog style shoes
**Your child’s classroom teacher may ask for additional supplies. The list will be given when they start school.
***If your child is attending Full Day with the Bilingual teacher you will need to double supplies except for the backpack.
Replenish all supplies during the year as needed and keep a set of supplies at home for homework.
FIRST GRADE SUPPLY LIST
Please label all the items clearly with the student’s name
*1 backpack to carry items to and from school (no
backpacks with wheels)
*24 glue sticks
*1 bottle of Elmer’s school glue (small size)
*1 pink eraser
*48 #2 pencils (sharpened)
*2 boxes of 24 Crayola crayons
*1 box of 8 Crayola wide markers (washable)
*5 folders with pockets on the bottom only (no center hole fasteners)
*1 pair pointed scissors (Fiskars brand)
*1 large box of kleenex
*1 plastic school box no larger than 8x5 and no handles
*1 3 pack of highlighters *2 pencil sharpeners
*1 4 pack of expo black dry erase markers
*1 box of ziplock bags (gallon size)
*1 box of ziplock bags (sandwich size)

*2 containers of wet wipes or anti-bacterial wet ones (No Clorox brand)
*1 ear buds (head phones)
