Meeting opened at 7pm
The purpose of the meeting was to plan for the forth coming 12 months.
Fishing
Saturday 18th March – Fishing day funded by the AT. Day split into three 90 minute sessions. Four L2 coaches and one L1 coach are available (awaiting confirmation from PB). Starts at 10am and concludes at 3pm. Ian Gemson to lead on content in consultation with the other coaches. Agreed that maggots were better for our organised events than bread. YH to staff shop. We would like to sell hot dogs as well. Invites to be given to the participants for CAST course.
CAST Course and after school club – 20th April to 25th May. IG is CAST trained. The after school club is also to be run as a CAST course.
Wednesday 16th August – Summer fun day at Braybrooke – as per previous years
Wednesday 30th August – Summer fun day at SHP – as per previous years
Friday 27thOctober – Fishing for young people – introduction of more structure to the morning coaching session.
Day for people with disabilities – DW liaising with group who support partially sighted people. A waiting reply. SR suggested contacting Sportable. DW to follow up.
Summer family fishing sessions – agreed to put on 4 sessions
Carping for beginners – SR suggested ‘Specimen Fishing’ or ‘Predator Fishing’ coaching sessions. Agreed these would work better than carping. SR to lead.
3rd June - Members Silver fish match . JV leading. DW to re-advertise.
The use of The Cut was discussed. EA carrying out habitat improvement. Await result of 5K funding bid from AT. KJ suggested making temporary swims. This will be pursued if funding bid is unsuccessful.
Nature
Bat walk – see below.
Reptile encounter – date TBC
Birds of Prey - YH to make contact. Date TBC
Tree Planting – Date TBC
BFBC Rangers – DW to contact rangers about putting on two events, one in spring and one in autumn.
Pond dipping – promotion day. Woodland day at Jocks Lane on 2nd April.
YH reminded group that the bird man had invited club members to vist his house to see the birds. YH to contact and find out details.
Insects – DW to ask Rangers.
Fungi walk – DW to ask rangers
Quelm Lane nature walk – rangers???
Bird talk – RSPB or Wildlife trust. DW to follow up.
A new nature lead is required as MP is moving away.
Others
Promotion event – discussion about combining a club fishing day with the bat walk or the promotion event with the bat walk. Agreed to run the promotion event on 1st May from 3pm to 6pm. Then have refreshments in the hall ready for the bat talk/walk at 7:30pm. DW to e-mail bat group to check availability.
Car boot sales – permission requested for 3 per year from BTC. Awaits confirmation.
Halloween – DW to check hall availability. (BTC e-mailed on 27th Jan)
Schools – YH liaising with Sandy lane and Garth
Projects
Pond dipping area – JV has design for gates. Paved area to be covered in Tiger Mulch.
Signs – committee asked to provide ideas for signage. Agreed a notice board was necessary.
Nature Trail – agreed that the trail should be identifiable as a nature trail. KJ suggested the trail incorporates a bird area with feeders put out to attract various type of birds. DW suggested an out door classroom similar to MillPark with a canopy. SR suggested a point of interest guide to hand out to people. Perhaps make a short and long walk around the park.
