Ø MnC-G004 – Sound & Bar down roof and sidewalls in an u/g coal mine.

Ø MnC-G002 – Test & Monitor for basic gasses in an u/g coal mine.

Ø MnC-G060 – Demonstrate knowledge to test and monitor for basic gasses in an u/g coal mine.

Ø MnH-G085 – Determine velocity of air in a work place by means of the tape method and take appropriate action.

Ø OcH-G085 – Describe the basic environmetal factor of ventilating a work place to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

Ø MnC-G037 – Demonstrate knowledge of Strata Control principles in an u/g coal mine.

Ø MnC-G031 - Demonstrate knowledge and ability to work in an u/g coal mine.

Ø MnC-G002 – Test & Monitor for basic gasses in an u/g coal mine.

Ø MnC-G037 – Demonstrate knowledge of Strata Control principles in an u/g coal mine.

Ø MnC-G031 - Demonstrate knowledge and ability to work in an u/g coal mine.

Ø MnC-G003 – Support Roof and sidewalls using a roofbolter machine in an u/g coal mine. Take note competency on this u/s must be done in the candidate’s workplace.

7. MINING LEARNERSHIP

COURSE OBJECTIVES

To train potential underground miners in conventional mining operations and continuous mining operations according to the outcome of the unit standard of the registered qualification and attend the mining qualification preparation course and the prescribed examination.

ENTRY LEVEL

Minimum requirements.

· Knowledge and ability to work in an u/g coal mine.

· Knowledge of specific ventilation.

· Knowledge of mine standards and procedures.

· Grade 10 with Maths, Science, English & Communication.

COURSE CONTENT

AS PER NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN MINING OPERATIONS U/G COAL

10. HEALTH & SAFETY

REPRESENTATIVE

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course is designed to provide appointed HSE representatives, inspectors, Supervisors / section Managers and HSE committee members with the competencies to identify evaluate and record HSE hazards in designated work areas and evaluate the risks attached to operational tasks and processes.

ENTRY LEVEL

All employees and supervisors who are responsible for the implementation and maintenance of HSE standards and management control procedures in daily operational process and procedures. HSE representatives, committee members, shop stewards and those involved in or responsible for the evaluation of inspection reports. Health and safety and environmental practitioners at all levels.

METHOD OF TRAINING

Facilitated learning through group work, discussed visual aids and practical on job application assignment.

PROGRAM OUTLINE

Basic psychological aspects pertaining to healthy and safe work behavior.

Identify examples in HSE context pertaining to the various applications of ISO standards within the Ingwe HSE System. Explain the objectives and benefits of structured workplace and operational process inspections. Determine the elements that need to be included in regular HSE and supervisory inspections, checks, and/or planned maintenance schedules. Carry out a practical workplace inspection and equipment checks, identify deviations, and record findings. Prepare a summary report on findings together with recommendations for submissions to HSE committee or other appropriate management representative/s. Summary report presentation on inspection findings for action by HSE committee meeting.
