Minutes of council meeting held on 22nd February 2012

The second meeting of the council was chaired by the Vice president Dr. N.Abegunasekara since the president was unable to attend due to unavoidable circumstances. Although most of the council members were excused for the meeting it was decided to hold it without postponing according to the president’s request.

Minutes of the meeting held on 25th January was read and confirmed.
Matters arising from the minutes:
2012/02/01. Fund supporting PLWHA
The treasurer mentioned that no money was spent in February.
2012/02/02. STI Guidelines
The vice-president mentioned the necessity of locating the soft copy probably from the printers in order to make them available in NSACP and SLCV websites .It was decided to ask Karunadara printers for the PDF soft copy.
2012/02/03. 17th Annual Scientific Sessions
Vice- president stated that SLFI auditorium is quite acceptable place as the venue for inauguration and sessions and the venue for dinner to be decided later. He also stated that the president want the council members to think about an appropriate theme for this year and to come with suggestions for the next meeting.
2012/02/04. CME activities
Vice president mentioned that this month’s CME activity was done successfully by Dr. Shanika Jayasena and “Haematological manifestations in HIV” will be the guest lecture next month which will be discussed by Dr Visakha Rathnamalala, consultant Haematologist of CNTH on 21th of March
2012/02/05. Correspondence
News paper article commemorating Dr. Ravi Sokanadan and his great contribution to the SLCV was cited at the meeting and his service was greatly appreciated by the council
2012/ 02/06. Any other matters
1. Sessions in collaboration with clinical societies in other hospitals
Council decide to have sessions in HIV and STI when a request is made by a clinical society
2. National health care exhibition
Secretary mentioned that all the arrangements are made for the above event and PG trainees will be allocated for the duties
Vcancy list of Consultant Vanereologists
Secretary mentioned that the college sent the vacancy list of Consultant Venereologist to DG of Health ministry.
3. Fund raising activities for the SLCV
Vice president appreciated the great contribution done by Dr. G. Weerasingha in fund raising for the college through his contacts and hoped that he will continue to contribute in the future
4. 2012 /02/ 07 Next council meeting
Next council meeting will be held on 21st March 2012.
