NOTICE RE: TEACHING ASSISTANT (TA) POSITIONS WINTER 2016

In accordance with Article 12:01 of the CUPE 4580 Collective Agreement the Department of Communication, Media & Film invites applications for TA positions for the Winter 2016 term. The total funds for Teaching Assistantships allocated to the Department of Communication, Media & Film for the 2015/16 academic year is $51,613. Eligibility requirements: The following are specific criteria required for the appointments above:

Required essential qualifications:

·  All positions: must have taken the course with a minimum of 77% ; must have a Major GPA of at least 70% with good communication skills; must be available to attend courses/labs/exams (mid-term and final exams) at the specified times.

·  *0240-350-30 only (Scriptwriting for Visual Media): must have taken in a previous term: 24-429 (Character Study), 39-320 (Screenwriting) or 40-428 (Senior Project) and minimum of a 73% or better in FAW (now Effective Writing 1 & 11)

Preferred qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who have background and experience the areaof the course for which they are applying.

Teaching Assistant appointments shall be offered to qualified applicants in accordance with the criteria specified in Article 12:04 of the Collective Agreement.Teaching Assistant appointments shall be offered to qualified applicants in accordance with the criteria specified in Article 12:04 of the Collective Agreement.

Note that Teaching Assistants cannot be employed for more that 100 hours per semester total. If you already hold or have applied for another TA position (in this or another department) note that the total combined hours for all TA appointments held in all departments cannot exceed 100 hours.
