Subject: / Introducing the New Employee Self Service (ESS) Site
Over the last several months, as part of URS’ initiative to more closely align our businesses and systems, we have been working with ADP to enhance our employees’ self service experience. Beginning today, we are taking a step in that direction with the launch of a new Employee Self Service (ESS) site.
As some of you know, the current ESS allows employees to view personal and payroll information, much of which can be updated online. ESS provides access to:
- Personal Information – Home address, telephone numbers, emergency contact and regulatory information, such as Veteran Status and Race/Ethnicity.
- Payroll – Pay detail, tax withholdings, Personal Leave Time/Vacation, deductions, direct deposit accounts.
- Training and Development – Education, language proficiency, licenses and certifications.
Since most Federal Services (FS) employees are outside of the URS Wide-Area Network (WAN), they have not had access to the current ESS site and these tasks were completed by Human Resources and Payroll staff. The new ESS site now provides access to all FS employees.
In addition, the new ESS offers a more convenient approach to managing your benefits, pay and career functions with a single access point for iPay, the Benefit Self Service Web site and a reconfigured ESS.
Currently, Federal Services, Infrastructure & Environment and Corporate employees have to access up to three separate sites to manage their personal, pay and benefits information. This new single source site offers many enhancements, which include:
- One site that provides a single login for iPay and ESS. (A link to the Benefit Self Service Web site will be featured on the site but will require an additional login.)
- Employees no longer will require Helpdesk assistance to reset their passwords. They will be able to perform this task, as well as others, unassisted.
- The new ESS can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection. (Since ESS was first introduced to Infrastructure & Environment employees in 2004 and to approximately 3,000 Federal Services employees in 2008, the site has only been accessible using a computer connected to the URS WAN).
The ESS site also features a new format—one that simplifies your search for pay, benefits and career information. At the top of the Welcome page are six tabs (Home, Time & Attendance, Pay & Taxes, Personal Information, Benefits and Career), which will provide you with access to your HR and Pay tools.
Getting Started
- If you have already registered for iPay, you can access the new ESS site immediately by logging onto You will be able to retain your current iPay User ID and password for the new ESS.
- If you are not an iPay participant, you will need to register for an ESS User ID at Please refer to the Registration instructions, which are attached.
Important Note: To register employees must have an active e-mail address (business or personal).
We’re confident that the new ESS will streamline many tasks that you perform related to your personal, pay and benefits information.
Please ensure this message is distributed to all employees without computer access.
