Marketing and Student Services Manager

Responsible to: / Vice Principal – Curriculum & Learners
Location: / Base - Farnborough Site. Off-site working at Schools, Colleges, Employers, Community Organisations, etc.
SALARY / Spot Salary c £46,000
Hours of Work: / Flexible - 37 hours per week
(with some evening & weekend work)
Object of Job:
To lead and direct the operational delivery of the Marketing and Student Services team in order to:
  • Achieve growth in student numbers to meet agreed income targets.
  • Ensure outstanding quality for students throughout their College journey frominitial enquiry to final destination stage,whilst maintaining full compliance with College systems and procedures.

Description of main responsibilities:

Maximising student recruitment

  • Achieving growth in each of the College’s key markets by meeting agreed recruitment targets.
  • Assist the Senior Management Team in the setting of appropriate recruitment targets and implementing marketing and recruitment strategies to meet those targets
  • Managing, organising and delivering marketing and recruitment activities to maximise applications for courses at the College.
  • Managing the production of all print-based promotional materials (including prospectuses, course, information, advertising materials, specialist promotional materials, etc).
  • Managing the production of all electronic promotional materials (including website, College entries for on-line databases, etc)
  • To manage overall the delivery of the various support funds that are available to students to ensure that the College is maximising financial support for students whilst maintaining financial probity.
  • Ensuring that the various financial funds available to students are marketed and well publicised.
  • Managing the creation and maintenance and further enhancement of the College’s social media presence (including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc).
  • Working with staff in Academic Schools within the College to enhance recruitment to their courses.
  • Analysing market opportunities for College activities and advising on potential opportunities for new course development or delivery
  • Devising, managing & implementing a College marketing plan, based on regular research and reviews.
  • Promoting the College through the fostering of positive public relations and the promotion of a high public profile in the local, regional and national media.
  • Managing, organising and delivering College events which contribute to the recruitment students
  • Managing the processes of applying for FE and HE courses

Maximising student retention

  • Managing, organising and delivering a range of enrichment events (including sports activities, Student celebrations, charity events, volunteering, trips, etc)
  • Managing the provision of general and specialist support and advice for students (including counselling, health advice, accommodation, careers, etc)
  • Ensuring students have access to financial advice which enables them to access the various funds that are made available to the College.
  • Managing the provision of a programme of tutorial talks (including safe driving, staying safe, anti-smoking, etc)
  • Facilitating student groups and associations
  • Organising specific support for student progression (including the Degree Academy, UCAS applications)
  • Organising cross-College opportunities for ‘student voice’ (including the student forum, election of student governors, etc)

Operational management

  • Leading and managing members of the Marketing and Student Services team in undertaking their responsibilities
  • Managing appropriately financial funds available to students and ensuring that financial probity is maintained.
  • Contributing to the overall operational management of the College
  • Ensuring compliance with all College systems and procedures, particularly financial regulations and processes
  • Undertaking other relevant functions as required

  • Degree level qualification relevant to the requirements of the post
  • Professional Marketing Qualification
