AHOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZEAND CONGRATULATE THE ORANGEBURG PREPARATORY SCHOOL SPEED AND STRENGTH TEAM ON WINNING THE2011SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (SCISA) CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, on April 30, 2011, the Orangeburg Preparatory School speedand strength team captured the 2011South Carolina Independent School Association Class AAA State Championship title; and
Whereas, held at Orangeburg Prep, the title bout featured teams competing in six events: bench press, power clean, vertical jump, broad jump, 20yard shuttle, and 40yard dash; and
Whereas, team members includedThacker Staley, Trey Kyzer, Connor Guess, Taylor Young, Aaron Bruner, Sean Odom, Benjamin Cooper, Cap Thackston, Aaron Crandall, Paul Henry Davis, and Trey Fanning. Helping to lead the way, Sean Odom won the 181190pound weight class. Other weightclass winners were Aaron Crandall (131146), Trey Kyzer (161170), and Thacker Staley (206220). In addition, freshman Paul Henry Davis won the bench press in the 171180pound class; and
Whereas, in nailing the state title, the Indians put their resilience, relentless training, and consistent performance on the line and proved that championship preparation leads to championship wins; and
Whereas, heightening the excitement, it was the third time in as many years that Orangeburg Prep finished high in the event and the second time in those same three years that the school took home the title trophy; and
Whereas, Adam Holmes, Howie Bayer, and Rip Ripley, the team’s dedicated coaches, poured their own talents and gifts into preparing their athletes to do their best, and the Indians did not let them down; and
Whereas, the Orangeburg Preparatory School speedand strength team has brought great pride to its community and State, and the House of Representatives is pleased to recognize this outstanding group of young men upon the occasion of their winning the 2011 SCISA Class AAA state title. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the Orangeburg Preparatory School speed and strength team on winning the2011 South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) Class AAA State Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Headmaster Kelley B. Mims and Coach Adam Holmes of OrangeburgPreparatory School.
