A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF ADDIE YVONNE MUNGIN OF JASPER COUNTY, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to hear of the death of Addie Yvonne Mungin of Jasper County on February 6, 2011; and
Whereas, born in Pineland on April 28, 1949, Addie Mungin was the daughter of Arthur Lee and Agnes Bolden Mungin; and
Whereas, in 1968, she received a degree from Mather Junior College, following which she furthered her education at Claflin College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biology in 1970; and
Whereas, “Ms. Addie” spent a number of years in Massachusetts working as a laboratory assistant before moving back home to South Carolina and rejoining Second Thankful Missionary Baptist Church. As a dedicated member of that congregation, she served in the choir, Deacons Union, Young Womens Association, and Missionary Society. She loved singing, teaching, and helping others. She was also a faithful member of the Bethel Baptist Union; and
Whereas, believing in caring involvement in her community, she was active in ministering at the nursing home in Estill and the AlonJay Adult Day Care Center in Allendale; and
Whereas, having been predeceased by three of her brothers, Joe Lee, Alex, and Halbert, and a sister, Sadie, she leaves to cherish her memory her brothers Arthur, Jr., Earnest, and Freddie, and a host of other family members and friends. She will be missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing of Addie Yvonne Mungin of Jasper County, and extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Freddie Williams for the family.
