SERVE-A-THON INFORMATION (Grades 7 - 12)

INFORMATION

The Serve-a-Thon will run for 3 weeks!!

We will be running the Serve-a-Thon for Grades 7 - 12 again this year. This will give students in the secondary grades an opportunity to raise funds for AKCS. It will also give families who only have secondary children a chance to raise funds towards their family fundraising commitment dollar for dollar. (If you would like to know your remaining fundraising balance, please contact Carla DeBruyn at .) Each student will be able to collect pledges for service opportunities within our community. At AKCS we strongly encourage our students to live out their Christian faith in practical ways. We believe that every student should not only know what is right and wrong, but should have opportunities to put their beliefs into practice. One of the ways that we do this is by taking the time to serve others.

From April 10 – April 29, 2017 secondary students will collect pledges to serve our community and then complete their service to raise funds. Some ideas are: doing yard work, grocery shopping for an elderly person, babysitting, cleaning a home or business, helping out with moving items within a home, cleaning out or organizing a garage etc. A Serve-a-Thon event is scheduled for Saturday, April 29 at the school starting at 9:00 am and finishing around 12:30 with a Hot Dog lunch.

All of the money raised by the Serve-a-Thon will be going towards our fundraising efforts for our school. Please fill out the service record form throughout the Serve-a-Thon to keep track of your pledges and at the end of the fundraiser complete the Family Contribution Form (pink) and return it along with all cash and cheques received. All pink forms and funds raised are due into the office by Friday, May 5.

GOALS

We would like each student to raise at least $120 with this fundraiser. This is a great opportunity for students to serve our community and spread the light of Jesus throughout Airdrie.

Get 6 sponsors to pledge $20 or get 12 sponsors to pledge $10 or get 20 sponsors to pledge $6

All donations over $25 are eligible for a tax receipt.

To ensure fairness, PARENTS please check that the pledge and service have been completed and sign the form confirming so.

PRIZES (for Service & Sponsors)

At the end of the Serve-a-Thon we will award the following prizes:

Student who collected the most money will receive a $50 cash prize.

Student who collected the most sponsors will receive a $50 cash prize.

Class who collected the most money will receive a pizza party at lunchtime.
