This lesson will demonstrate the reactions of WWII and 9/11 and allow the students to reflect on the various aspects of war and how it relates to them.

- What makes NYC important as a military target? Why?
Students will know:
- The U.S. was fighting two wars abroad.
- Every American had to sacrifice during WWII through rationing, buying war bonds, or military service
- Draw inferences from the sources and use them in their writing
- Explain the different roles individuals, both military and civilian, took in the defense of NYC.
