The University of Cape Town’s Communication & Marketing department is seeking to employ a talented, innovative and digitally-savvy Web Editor. The incumbent will be required to oversee and successfully curate UCT’s corporate website. The Web Editor will be required to ensure that the site is informative, well structured and easy for the multiple users of the site to engage with.

Requirements:

·  An appropriate tertiary qualification in one of the fields of journalism, writing, or online communication. Experience in more than one of these fields will be advantageous.
·  Thoroughly familiar with web usability principles, search engine optimisation & website information architecture.
·  Minimum 3 - 5 years writing and editing experience.
·  Minimum 2 - 3 years web copywriting and editing experience.

Experience in overseeing a corporate website and a marketing qualification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities:

·  Corporate site content management.

·  Web copywriting, editing and copy development.

·  Support for UCT’s social media and digital platforms.

·  Support for UCT’s overall web presence.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract position and the annual salary range will be between R 317843 and R 350000.
