Celebrating the Life of
Tom Neubauer
1935 ~ 2017
“Give Thanks To The Lord,
For He Is Good,
And His Love Endures Forever.”
Psalm 107:1
“Goodbye Is Not Forever”
When you lived your life for others
and you loved without condition,
When you made so many laugh
and your smile won’t be forgotten,
When you left behind an empty place
that no one else can fill,
When the friendships that you shared
long to be renewed,
When you built your life on hope
and fulfilled it every day,
The footprints that you left behind
will bring us face to face,
So, goodbye is not forever,
You’re only steps away.

Thomas F. Neubauer was born on March 27th, 1935 in Zahl, North Dakota to John and Anna (Poeckes) Neubauer. He was one of five children.
Tom was raised in Zahl, North Dakota where he also attended school, up until the school burned down in 1950. After that, he attended school at Grenora High School and graduated in 1954.
On July 12, 1959, he was united in marriage to his true love, Grace Ann Birkeland, and from this union, came four children, Laura, Lana, Dan, and Lisa. They later raised their grandson, Scott, as their own son.
Tom moved from Zahl to Williston in 1955, and went to work for H.L Grimstvedt painting apartments, and such. Next, he worked for the city of Williston until 1956 when he started at Gamble Robinson, driving truck. In 1959 he went back to the city as Operator of the Water Plant. In 1960, he went to work at the New Dakota Salt and Chemical plant until 1965, when he joined Ron Vickers at Geo Resources. He also had a sodding business from 1964 – 1978. Us kids loved to go with him in his big old sod truck and “help” him. I think what we really liked was to eat the packed lunch!
Tom joined the National Guards in 1957. He went on active duty from 1957 – 1958 at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri. He was recalled in 1960 to Fort Riley, Kansas for the Berlin Crisis.
Tom loved spending time with his Model T’s almost as much as spending time with his family. He loved giving rides to everyone, especially his family. He entered every parade around and the kids and grandkids would ride along. What wonderful memories!
He was always smiling and always had a joke or two to tell. He had a deep faith in the Lord, and would give his last dollar to someone in need.
Surviving Tom are his daughters, Laura Christensen (friend Michael), Lana Halama, and Lisa Behrman; five grandchildren, Scott Behrman, Lindsay Halama, Tom Halama, Julia Christensen, and Grace Halama; his sisters, Kathleen Smith and Deanna Edwards.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Grace; son, Dan; sister, Mary Ann Revill; brother in law, Joe Revill; sister, Agnes Monger; brother in law, John Monger, brother in law Ron Smith, brother in law Allan Edwards, and brother in law Arvid Birkeland, also, good friend, Larry Gaudreau.
May he rest in peace as he is greeted by the Lord Jesus and reunited with his wife, son, and many other family members and friends.
