/ YES: immediately adjacent to the western end of the built up area of Chapel-en-le-Frith and to the Hamlet of Cockyard

/ YES: see below
a)Are there significant views from the local area into or across the site? / YES: There are views into and across the site from public footpaths FP 19 and FP 60 and beautiful views from Manchester Road across the fields towards Eccles Pike to the north and towards Castle Naze to the south, These views display the character of the area for people approaching Chapel-en-le-Frith from Whaley Bridge direction
b)Does the site afford the public with significant views out into the wider countryside? / YES: Beautiful open panoramic views out of the site from footpath FP 60, looking across the golf course towards the hills in the south.
Also views towards Eccles Pike from the northern part of the site
c)Does the site have special historic significance or features?
d)Does the site have recreational value? / YES: Walking, a popular recreation with local people.
e)Is the site particularly tranquil?
f)Does the site have ecological value, trees, wildlife or habitat?
g)Does the site form a significant green break within the settlement?
h)Are there other reasons that make the site special to local people? / YES: The character that the sites give to this approach to Chapel-en-le-Frith.
It forms a green buffer between Chapel-en-le-Frith and Cockyard.
It was noted that the High Peak Local Plan Impact Assessment (Jan 2014) identified this as an area that could not accommodate development in landscape terms
i) Is there evidence demonstrating that the site is special to local people? / In response to the Chapel Vision Survey 2012 37 people identified this general area around Manchester Road as special to them.

b)an extensive tract of land? / a)YES: Clearly bounded by field boundaries and Manchester Road, perimeter tracks on the northern part of the site and domestic properties and the golf course to the south (see photograph from Google Earth)
b)NO: less than 0.1% of the Neighbourhood Plan area
Is there public access to the site?
Would the site provide the public with amenity value without public access? / YES: access via public footpaths FP 60 and FP 19 and the important views are visible from Manchester Road
Summary and recommendations: / Recommend designation as a Local Green Space. These fields are particularly important for the views and character they give to the Manchester Road approach to Chapel-en-le-Frith and form a green buffer between Chapel and Cockyard.
