Article I. OFFICER DUTIES

Section 1 General Duties of All Officers

A.Attendance

  1. AttendallregularandspecialmeetingsoftheIFC
  2. Attendallexecutivecommitteemeetings
  3. ExecutiveOfficerswhomisstwo(2)regular,special,orexecutivecommitteemeetingswithoutpriornoticeshallbe issueda writtenreprimandbytheIFCPresident
  4. Executive Officers whomissathirdregular,special,orexecutivecommitteemeeting withoutpriornoticewillbesubject toremovalfromoffice.

B.Maintainatleastone officehoureachweek,failuretodoso willresultinremovalfromIFCexecutivecouncil.

C.Meetindividuallywiththe IFCAdvisoronabi-weeklybasis.

D.Developacalendarofchapterevents,all-Greekevents,andmajoruniversityeventsatleastonesemesterinadvance.

E.FormulategoalsfortheInterfraternityCouncilanddevelopanactionplanto achievethosegoals.

F.AttendFSLretreats, Council Retreats and all Division of Student Affairs trainings/retreats including the annual Leadership Retreat.

G.Act in accordance with all University Student Code of Conduct, IFC, FSL, state and local laws, procedures and policies. Failure to comply could result in immediate removal of office.

Section 2President

  1. Be responsible for the performance of the duties of the IFC officers
  2. Preside over all Interfraternity Council MeetingsPrepare an Agenda for all regular and special Inter fraternity Council Meetings.
  3. Appoint Committee Members
  4. Attend President’s Roundtable Meetings & FSL President’s Council meetings.
  5. Exercise all powers and duties granted in the Constitution and Bylaws

Section 3Vice President of Operations

  1. AssumedutiesofPresidentinhisabsence
  2. ServeasParliamentarianinRegularandSpecialInterfraternityCouncilMeetings
  3. Keep all hearing information confidential without releasing evidence and results of hearings.
  4. BeknowledgeableofRobert’sRulesofOrder
  5. CoordinateallStandardsmattersoftheInterfraternityCouncil
  6. ServeasChiefJusticeontheStandardsCouncil and attend all Standards Board meetings (absence in more than 2 meetings in any given semester will result in removal from office).
  7. InvestigateallchargesandallegationsofviolationsandreporttotheExecutiveCommittee.

Section4Vice President Membership & Recruitment

  1. CoordinateandExecutetheRecruitmentPlanforeachsemester
  2. Collect,edit,anddistributeIFCmasterrecruitmentschedulesforallchapters
  3. PresentIFCAdviserandExecutiveCommitteewitha writtenreportattheendof eachformalrecruitmentperiod
  4. ActasChairmanoftheRecruitmentCommittee
  5. Coordinateallcampusexpansionactivities
  6. Responsibleforcreatingaprogram,in conjunctionwiththeotherGreekCouncils,fortheUniversity SummerOrientations and Maverick Preview Day.

Section 5 Vice President of Communications

  1. PlanandcoordinatepublicityforallIFC, FSL, and University events (as needed).
  2. Serveasanambassadortoothercouncilsbyattendingandreportingontheirmeetings
  3. ResponsibleforregisteringIFCforUniversityEvents(includingActivityFair,PreviewDays,Orientations,DisplayCases,Banners,etc.)
  4. Worktoestablishpositive relationshipwithon-campuspublicationssuchastheShorthornandwritepressreleases togetPRforIFC.
  5. Communicate weekly via email and other electronic media updates in regards to IFC & FSL (chapter president emails and management of IFC social media).

Section 6 Vice President of Programming & New Member Education

  1. Coordinate& communicate GreekWeekactivitiesforIFC
  2. Coordinate (at least) one IFC New Member Educators meeting per semester.
  3. Coordinate (at least) one IFC All New Member event annually.
  4. Communicate and coordinate all IFC new member orientation processes to assure new member eligibility.
  5. Coordinatevarious cross-council programming opportunities withCPH, NPHC and MGC.

Section 7 Vice President of Finance & Administration

  1. HandleallregularfinancialmattersoftheInterfraternityCouncilinatimelymannerincludingallfees,memberdues,and fines.
  2. SubmitaFinancialReportoncea monthatRegularMeetingsoftheCouncil
  3. CollectanddisburseallfundsfortheInterfraternityCouncil
  4. Coordinatetraveltoannualleadershipconference
  5. Prepareamonthlystatementof accountformemberfraternities
  6. CallOfficialRollatallRegularandSpecialInterfraternityCouncilMeetings
  7. RecordtheMinutesofallInterfraternityCouncilregularandspecialmeetingsanddistributethemtomemberfraternities andrepresentativedelegates
  8. MaintainandReviewtheConstitution,Bylaws,andOtherPoliciesoftheInterfraternityCouncil
  9. MaintainFilesandRecordsofallMemberFraternitiessuchasRosters, and Officerlists,
  10. PrepareAgendasforExecutiveCommitteeMeetings and General Body meetings.
  11. CollectalladministrativereportsthatarerequiredbytheFSLAdvisortosupportthemissionofthe Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.
  12. Maintainahistoricalrecordofallcouncilandchapteractivities,pressreports,etc.

Article II. BASIC EXPECTATIONS

Section 1 Individualswhoassumemembership inasocialGreek-letterorganizationdonotsurrendertheirrightsorescapetheirfundamental responsibilitiesasacitizen,butacquireadditionalrightsandresponsibilitiestothelargerGreekCommunity. Assuch,membersof IFCFraternitiesareexpectedto abidebytheNICNineBasicExpectationsofFraternityMembership:

  1. Toknowandunderstandtheidealsexpressedintheirritualandtostrivetoincorporatethosevaluesintotheirdailylife.
  2. Tostriveforacademicachievementandtopracticeacademicintegrity
  3. Torespectthedignityofallindividualsbynotengaginginbehaviorsthatphysically,mentally, psychologically,orsexually abuseorhazeothers.
  4. Toprotectthehealthandsafetyof others.
  5. Torespectthechapterpropertyandthepropertyofothersbynotabusingortoleratingtheabuseof property.
  6. Tomeetallfinancialobligationsinatimelymanner.
  7. Toneitherusenorsupporttheuseofillegaldrugs,andtoneithermisusenorsupportthemisuseofalcohol
  8. Toacknowledgethatacleanandattractiveenvironmentisessentialtobothphysicalandmental health. Therefore,todo everything,withinreason,toensurethatchapterandcommunitypropertyisproperlycleanedandmaintained.
  9. Tochallengeallotherfraternitymemberstoabidebythesebasicfraternalexpectationsandtoconfrontthosewhoviolate them.

Section 2 Inadditiontothesebasicexpectations,membersoffraternalorganizationsalsoagreeto:

  1. Notengageinconductunbecomingamemberofthefraternity/sororitycommunity.
  2. Notengageindisorderlyconduct,disruptingactivitiesofothers,or rioting.
  3. Notdestroyorvandalizeproperty.
  4. Nottrespassorforcefullyentera premisewithoutauthorization.
  5. Notsteal,possess,orencourageotherstostealorpossesspropertybelongingtootherfraternities,sororities,private citizens,thecommunity,ortheuniversity.
  6. ComplywithAllGreekStandardssanctions.
  7. Takeresponsibilityfortheactionsofchaptermembers,pledges,newmembers,associates,andguests.

Article III.MEETINGS

Section 1General Body Meetings

  1. General BodyMeetingsshallbeheldeveryWednesdayat12:00p.m.in theStudentCongressChambers.

Section 2Executive Committee Meetings

  1. ExecutiveCommitteemeetingsshallbeheldon a weekly basis at a regular time as scheduled by the Executive Committee to prepare for the subsequent weeks’ GeneralBodyMeeting.

Article IV.FINANCES

Section 1Dues

  1. Thechapterfeeshallbea minimum of $50.00
  2. Thefeeassessedforeachchaptermembershallbe a minimum of$7.00. Thisfeeshallbebasedontheofficialrostermaintainedby theIFCAdvisorandshouldbeduebeforethe30daysafterthefirstdayofclasses. Late fees will assessed at $25.00 per day until dues are paid in full.

Article V.RISK MANAGEMENT

Section 1Alcohol &Drugs

A.Thepossession,use,and/orconsumptionofalcoholicbeverageswhileonchapterpremises,duringanofficialfraternity event,orinanysituationsponsoredorendorsedbythechapter,mustbeincompliancewithanyandallapplicablelawsofthe state,county,city,university,andtheFraternity & Sorority Life Risk Management Event Policy(AppendixB).

B.Nochaptermembers,collectivelyor individually,shallat anytimepurchasefor,sell, serve, and/or providealcoholicbeveragesto any personunderthelegaldrinkingage.

C.Noalcoholicbeverages maybepurchased throughtheChapterTreasurynormaythepurchaseofsameformembers or guestsbeundertakenorcoordinatedbyanymember,new member,oralumnusinthenameoforonbehalfofthechapter.

D.Thepurchaseand/oruseofabulkquantityofalcoholicbeverages(e.g.kegs,partyballs,trash-canpunch)isprohibited.

E.Nochaptershallallowatapsystemand/orkegtobepresentinthechapterhouse,oronchapterproperty, oratachapter function(unlessthekegortapsystemispartofacashbaroperatedbyanapprovedlicensedcaterer at the vendor or leased establishment).

F.Thenumberofguestspresentat afraternityfunctionmaynotexceedthelegalfiresafetycodesetforthatstructure or, exceed the number of guests identified by the FSL Risk Management Event Policy and/or the Chapter’s National Risk Management Policy.

G.NoChaptershallserve,orpermittheuse,possession, orconsumption ofalcoholicbeveragesatChapterrecruitmentfunctions.Inaddition,in accordance with NIC Standards, any recruitment event must be alcohol and drug free. This includes any events that take place throughout the academic year, including but not limited to designated IFC formal recruitment.

H.Nochaptermayco-sponsoraneventwithanalcoholdistributor,charitableorganization,ortavern(tavernbeingdefined asanestablishmentderivingmorethanhalfofannualgross sales fromalcohol) wherealcoholisgiven away,sold,orotherwise distributedtothosepresent.Exceptionstothis rulemayapplyforphilanthropicevents.Definitionofphilanthropyistobe left uptotheGreekAdvisor. AllknownphilanthropiesaffectedbythissectionwillbeturnedintotheGreekAdviseratthe beginningofeachsemester.

I.Nochaptermayco-sponsororco-financeafunctionwherealcoholispurchasedbyanyofthehostchapters,groups,or organizations.

J.Nochaptermembersshallpermit,tolerate,encourage,orparticipatein"drinkinggames"atanychapterfunction.

K.Noalcoholshallbepresent prior to, during or followingat anynew memberactivityofthechapter.

L.Theillegaluse,possession,sale,ordistributionofanycontrolledsubstanceatChapterfunctionsoronChapterproperty shallbestrictlyprohibited.

Section 2Hazing

  1. Nochaptershallconducthazingactivities.Hazingactivitiesareconsidered,butnotlimitedto:"Anyactiontakenorsituationcreated,intentionally, whetheronorofffraternitypremises, toproducementalorphysical discomfort,embarrassment,harassment,orridicule. Suchactivitiesmayincludebutarenotlimitedtothefollowing:useof alcohol,paddlinginanyform,creationofexcessive fatigue;physicalandpsychological shocks;quest,treasurehunts, scavengerhunts,roadtrips,oranyothersuchactivitiescarriedonoutsideorinsideoftheconfinesofthechapterhouse; wearingofpublicapparelwhichisconspicuous andnotnormallyingoodtastes;engaginginpublicstuntsandbuffoonery; morallydegradingorhumiliatinggamesandactivities;andany other activitieswhich arenotconsistentwith fraternallaw,ritual orpolicy,ortheregulationsandpoliciesoftheeducationalinstitution."
  2. Allnewmembersmustattend ahazingeducationseminarhostedby theOffice ofFraternity and Sorority Life. Theseminarwillbeheldduring formal recruitment(or other IFC Orientation given during the C.O.B. method)and presented by theFSLAdvisor

Section3 Fire, Health& Safety

  1. Allchaptersmusthavepostedbycommonphone,emergencynumbersforfire,police,andambulance,andmusthave postedevacuationroutesfromchapterhousespostedonthebackofthedoorofeachsleepingroom.
  2. Allchaptersandhousingcorporationsshouldcomplywithreasonableengineeringrecommendations,whicharefinancially feasibletothechapterandHousing Corporation,as reportedbytheinsurancecompany.

Section 4 Sexual Abuse

  1. IFCwillnottoleratenorcondoneanyformofsexuallyabusivebehavioronthepartofitsmembers,whether physical,mental,oremotional.This istoincludeanyactionsthatare harmfulto all genders

Section 5 Education

  1. At the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester, each chapter shall educate every member and new member pledge in proper risk management practices and review the full contents of this policy at a chapter meeting. In addition, each semester IFC will host an event focusing on risk management in which attendance will be mandatory for a percentage of each chapter, to be determined by the FSL Advisor.

Article VI.ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

Section 6 Grade PointAverage Calculation Procedure

  1. TheaveragewillbecalculatedfromthosemenlistedontheofficialInterfraternityCouncilRosterthatis maintainedbythe FSLAdvisor. Thereportshallincludeallinitiatedmembersandnewmembersexcluding any removed from the chapter roster prior to the census date. Membersofthechapterwhoarenotcurrently enrolledat UTAwillalsobeexcludedfromthecalculation.
  2. TheaverageofInitiatedmembers, newmembers, andanoverallchapteraveragewillbepresented inareport tochaptersat thebeginningofthefollowingsemester.
  3. Thereportwillbecalculatedlistingtheinitiatedandnewmember GPAseparatelyforrecordingpurposesandthetotal GPAofthechapterwillbelisted as well. ThiswillbetheOfficialGradeReportrecognized bythe InterfraternityCouncil.

Section 7 OrganizationScholasticProbation

  1. AnyMemberFraternitynotmaintainingachapterGPAofatleast2.65willbeonscholasticprobation.
  2. MemberFraternitiesnotremovedfromscholasticprobationafterone(1)semesterwillloseallsocial privileges and must submit a scholastic improvement plan to the IFC Executive Committee.
  3. MemberFraternitiesonscholasticprobationforathird(3)consecutivesemester.ThisMemberFraternitywillbebroughtupon reviewoftheExecutiveCommitteeandmaybesenttoaStandardsCommitteehearing.
  4. Member Fraternitiesthatareonscholasticprobationforafourthconsecutivesemester willautomaticallybepetitionedfor removalfromtheInterfraternityCouncil,thispetitionwillrequireatwo-thirds(2/3)of eligiblecouncilmembershiptopass.

Article VII. RECRUITMENT POLICIES

Section 1 DefinitionofRecruitment Periods

  1. FormalRecruitmentistheperiodwhenMemberfraternitiesformallyopentheirdoorsfortherecruitmentofnewmembers. DuringFormalRecruitment, thecontactbetweenPotentialNewMembersandMemberfraternitieswillbeorganizedforthe benefitofeveryonewhoparticipates.
  2. Memberfraternitiesareexpectedtoholdrecruitmenteventseachnightduringformalrecruitment,withtheexceptionofIFCOrientationDay/EveningandTourof Chapters.NoadditionaleventsaretobeheldaftertheseIFCevents.
  3. AllPotentialNewMembersmust vacate Greek Property, Fraternity member’s property, or designated chapter event location by 11:00pm (the end of the Formal Recruitment day)andbeginnoearlierthan8:00amduring theformal recruitment process.
  4. TheIFCVPMembershipandRecruitmentwillrecommendthe periodofformalrecruitmenttotheIFC,anditmustbe ratifiedbyamajorityvotefromtheIFCChaptersto beofficial.
  5. No females may be present at any recruitment event.
  6. ContinuousOpenBiddingPeriodsareperiodswhenbidsmaybeextendedbymemberfraternitiesthroughtheoffice ofFraternity and SororityLifeandeithertheIFCVicePresidentofRecruitment,ortheFSLAdvisorinamoreinformalmanner.The datesfortheseperiodsareasfollows:
  7. SummerPhaseshallbeginonthefirstMondayfollowingfinalsweekasdesignatedbyUTA,andconcludeattheendof businessonJuly31,ortheFridaybeforeJuly31,ifthatdayshouldfallupona weekend.
  8. FallPhaseshallbegintheMondayaftertheFallFormalBidDayandconcludeonthelastFridaybeforedeadweekof thefallsemester.
  9. SpringphaseshallbegintheMondayafterSpringFormalBidDayandconcludeonthelastFridaybeforedeadweekofthespringsemester.
  10. AllphasesbeginwhentheFSLofficeopensforbusinesshoursonthefirstdayofeachphaseandconcludeat theendofbusinesshoursonthelastdayofeachphase.
  11. Bid Day will be dry until 5 PM. All chapters will be expected to have a registered event that evening to celebrate their new member class

Section 2Recruitment Dates

  1. TheFormalrecruitmentperiod,theContinuousOpenBidding(C.O.B.)phasesanddatesofany/allGreekrecruitment events willbedeterminedbytheIFCVicePresidentofMembershipRecruitment & FSL Advisorunlessotherwiseenumeratedinthese bylaws.

Section 3All IFC Recruitment Events

  1. AllmemberfraternitiesshallberequiredtoparticipateindesignatedFSLRecruitmenteventstobedeterminedbythe VicePresidentofMembership &Recruitment & FSL Advisor.Any chapter who is absent for more thantwo(2)ofthesedesignatedevents each fall, spring and summer semester willresultinanautomatic$100fine.Theseeventswillinclude,butarenotsolelylimitedto:

  1. PreviewDays
  2. ChaptersarerequiredtohavetablesatUniversity PreviewDays.Chaptersareencouraged tohaveprospective membersprovidetheirnameat theFSLInformationTablefordistributionto allchapters.Onlyapprovedmaterialsmay behandedoutat thisevent.
  3. ActivityFairDay
  4. ThedateofthiseventissetbytheOfficeofStudentActivitiesOrganizations.Chaptersmayhandoutapproved recruitmentmaterials.
  5. All FSL Open House
  6. This event is coordinated by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the beginning of the fall semester. This event allows prospective new members to attend and be introduced to member fraternity/sororities from IFC, CPH, NPHC, and MGC. Each chapter will be provided a table during this event.
  7. InformationTables
  8. TheIFCmayperiodically setupinformationtablestodistributeinformationaboutFraternity & Sorority Lifeandtocollectnamesof potentialmembers.
  9. TheIFCVicePresidentofMembership &Recruitment mayassignchapterstoworkatthetables duringdesignated periods.AllnamescollectedfromtheInformation Tableswillbeenteredintothedatabaseand distributedtoallchapters.ThisisanoptionaleventforallIFCChaptersandnota requiredevent.
  10. SummerOrientations
  11. The IFC Vice Presidentof MembershipRecruitmentshall have the primaryresponsibilityof creatinga program,in conjunctionwiththeotherGreekCouncils,fortheUniversity SummerOrientations. Theprogramwillinvolvestudentsfromall councilsandwillbedesignedtogenerateinterestandtodistributeinformationaboutFraternity & Sorority Lifeat UTA.
  12. AllnamescollectedduringSummerOrientationswillbeenteredintothedatabaseanddistributedtoallchapters.

Section 4ChapterRecruitment Events

A.TheIFCVice Presidentof Membership& Recruitmentwillholda formalrecruitmentmeetingbeforeeachformalrecruitment periodtodiscussallaspectsofthatformalrecruitmentperiodincluding:

  1. Datesforallformalrecruitmentevents
  2. RulesRegulationsoftheFormalRecruitmentPeriod
  3. DutiesRulesforRushMonitorsandRecruitmentChairsfromeachChapter.

B.EachChapterisrequiredtohaveallRushChairsattheformalrecruitmentmeeting.

C.Eachchaptermustsubmit alistofformalrecruitmentactivitiesattheFormal Recruitmentmeetingdateestablishedby the IFCVicePresident ofMembershipRecruitment.Failuretosubmitalistofeventsbytheestablisheddatewillresult in:

  1. Anautomatic$100fine
  2. Chapter’sformalrecruitmenteventsbeingomittedfrompublishedmaterials

D.AlleventswillbefinalizedaftertheFormalRecruitment meeting. Eventscanonlybechangedifextenuating circumstances ariseandmustbeapprovedbytheIFCAdvisor. Chapterscancelingorrelocatingscheduledformal recruitmentactivities without providing written notificationtotheIFCVicePresidentofMembershipRecruitmentatleast forty-eight(48)hourspriortothecancellationorrelocationshallbesubjecttoa$250fine.

E.ChaptershavinganyunscheduledrecruitmentactivitiesduringFormalRecruitmentwillbesubjecttoanautomatic $500fineandreferraltotheIFCStandardsBoard.

F.FormalRecruitmentOrientation

  1. Thisshallbethekick-offeventfortheformalrecruitment period.Generalinformation willbeprovidedtoallprospective members.ProspectivememberswillalsoberequiredtofilloutaStudentDataCardandattendtheformal informationsession. TheamountofchaptermembersatthiseventwillbesetbytheIFCVicePresidentofMembership& Recruitment.

G.Tourof Houses/Chapters

  1. Chapters arerequiredtoparticipateinthisevent.
  2. This event is an opportunity to connect with prospective new members that are interested in joining a fraternity at UT Arlington. We encourage chapters to take the limited opportunity to meet as many prospective new members as possible. Please do not use the opportunity to make a presentation; this may be done so at chapter registered events throughout the week if you choose to.

Section 5Recruitment Alcohol Policy

  1. Allformal and informalrecruitmentfunctionswillbealcoholfree.
  2. Aformal or informal recruitmentfunctionisdefinedasanyevent which the primary purpose is recruitment.

Section 6InformativeRecruitment Meetings &ReviewCommittee Meetings

  1. InformativeRecruitment MeetingsshallbeheldasnecessaryandchairedbytheIFCVicePresidentforMembership & Recruitment.
  2. Eachmemberfraternityisresponsibleforhavingone(1)representative,preferablythechapterRecruitmentChair,ateach InformativeRecruitmentMeeting.AnychapterabsentfromtwoFormalInformativeRecruitmentMeetingsmaynotbeallowed toparticipateintheformalrecruitmentweekactivitiesuntilmeetingwiththeIFCVicePresidentofMembershipRecruitment.
  3. DuringCOBperiodsofrecruitment,abidwillnotbeallowedtobeextended toPotential Members iftheirchapterrepresentative wasabsentfromthelastCOBInformativeRecruitment Meetingcalledtoorder,untilmeetingwiththeIFCVicePresidentof MembershipRecruitment.
  4. TheIFC VicePresidentfor Membership Recruitmentshall form a ReviewCommitteetoreviewall recruitmentbylawsand rulestomakerecommendationstopolicythatwillensurethisbody’srecruitmentproceduresandpoliciesarefairtoboth memberfraternitiesandpotentialnewmembers. Atleastone(1)ReviewCommitteemustbecalledperacademic yearto ensureasatisfactoryrushandrecruitmentforallIFCchapters.

Section 7Recruitment Monitors

  1. Allmemberfraternitiesshallsubmitthenamesandcontactinformationofthree (3)menwhowillserveasthe recruitmentmonitorsduringFormalRecruitment.Monitorsmustmeetthefollowingeligibilitycriteria:
  2. Monitorsmusthavebeenaninitiatedmemberforatleastonelongsemester.
  3. AlongsemesterisdefinedasonefullFallorSpringschoolsemesterenrolledat UTA.
  4. MonitormusthaveacumulativeGPAofatleast2.5andasemesterGPAofnotlessthan2.5
  5. RecruitmentmonitorswillbepresentatallFormalIFCRecruitmenteventsasassignedbyIFCVicePresidentofMembershipRecruitment.
  6. RecruitmentmonitorsshallbeknowledgeableofallIFCRecruitmentRulesandPolicies.
  7. Recruitmentmonitorswillnotbedeniedaccessto anyareasthatareopentoprospectivemembers. (e)Memberfraternitieswillincurallcostsoftherecruitmentmonitorsattheirevents.
  8. Recruitmentmonitorswhofailtoappearatascheduledchaptereventwillbeassessedafineof$50payablebythe chapter.If a chapter fails to report that a Recruitment Monitor has failed to appear at their scheduled chapter event, they will be also be subject to a $50 fine.
  9. IFCExecwillalsoactasRecruitmentMonitorsandarerequiredto performrandominspectionsofFormalRecruitmentEvents throughouttheFormalRecruitmentperiodtoensureallIFCpartiesarefollowingallrecruitmentregulations.
  10. RecruitmentmonitorsmustreportanyinfractionsoftheIFCRecruitmentRulesPoliciesinwritingtotheIFCVicePresidentofMembershipRecruitmentwithintwenty-four(24)hoursoftheknowninfraction.

Section 10Advertising & Publications

  1. Allchapterrecruitmentmaterialsmustbeapproved,inadvance,bytheIFCVicePresidentofMembershipRecruitment.
  2. Chaptersmaychalksidewalks,postsigns,banners,andflyersinaccordancewithpoliciesestablishedbytheOfficeof
  3. StudentActivities and Organizations.
  4. Chapterswillnotsteal,desecrate,orinanyotherwayinterferewithrecruitmentsignsofanotherchapterpostedaround thecampus.

Section 11 Miscellaneous Restrictions
*Failure toadhereandabidebyanyofthefollowing rulesandprocedures willbeconsideredaviolation oftheserules

andwill besubjecttopunishmentbytheExecutiveCommitteeortheStandardsCouncil.

  1. MemberFraternities cannotstateanythingnegativeaboutanotherMemberFraternity eitherinwriting,verbally, electronically,norcanitmentionanotherMemberFraternityinitsliteratureinanyformorfashion.
  2. Noprospectivemembersareallowedtowearorpossessfraternityparaphernalia; i.e.,T-shirts,hats,buttons,pins/books,cups.ThisexcludesRecruitmentflyersandbrochures.

Section 12Violations

A.Anyonewitnessinganinfractionor violationof theserulesisobligatedto informthe InterfraternityCouncilExecutiveCommittee or IFCAdvisorin writingwithintwenty-four(24)hoursof theviolation.TheExecutiveCommitteereservestherighttopursueany chargesbasedonseverityofviolation. Thefollowingviolationsshallnotbetoleratedandwillbesubjecttothefollowing punishmentsandreferraltotheStandardsCouncil:

B.Allinappropriatebidextensionpracticesincluding,butnotlimitedtotellingapotentialmemberabidisbinding,thata decisionon abid mustbe madeimmediatelyoritwill bewithdrawn,thatapotentialmemberisonlyeligibletoreceivebids fromonefraternity,orwhopressuresorintimidates apotentialmemberintoacceptingabidshallbeconsidered “hotboxing” Furthermore,“hotboxing”maybedeterminedbytheExecutiveCommitteeortheStandardsCouncilto includeotherinappropriatebidextensionpractices.

C.Hotboxingshallbestrictlyforbidden.

D.MemberFraternitiesaccusedofengagingin“hotboxing”shallbereferredtotheStandardsCouncil.

E.AnyMemberFraternity whichextends abidduringa shall unauthorized time willbereferredto theStandards Council

Article VIII. NEW MEMBER PROCESSS & INITIATION

Section 1New Member Eligibility

A.To be eligibleto join a Fraternity,amanmustcurrentlybeenrolledas ahalftimestudent,whichisno lessthansix (6) hours inthefallandspringsemestersandthree(3)inthesummer semesters,haveaCollegecumulativeGPAofatleasta2.5,for current UTA students. All new students to UTA are eligible to participate in IFC recruitment processes, and followallotherrequirementsexpresslywritteninthesebylaws.

Section 2Initiation practices

A.TheInterfraternity CouncilmandatesthatallitsMemberFraternitieswillfollowtherecognizedinitiationpracticesoftheir respectiveNational/International OrganizationsaslongastheyarenotinviolationofanypartoftheseBylawsandthe InterfraternityCouncilConstitution.

Section 3Disaffiliation

  1. Anymandisaffiliating aMemberFraternityisineligibletopledgeanotherMemberFraternityuntilhehascompletedthe semesterduringwhichhepledgedthefirstMemberFraternity.

Article IX.CHAPTER RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Section 1Dutyof bothStanding Member Chapter and Associate Member Chapter

  1. AbidebyalltheInterfraternityCouncil,Bylaws,rules,andproceduresandaswellmustabideandacceptallUniversity PoliciesandProcedures.
  2. PayallduesandfinesowedtotheInterfraternityCouncilaccordingtoitsrulesandprocedures
  3. CooperatewithallStandardsproceedingsandfollowrulingswhichmayor maynotinvolveitsownchapter. CooperatewithalladministrativeactionsoftheExecutiveCommittee
  4. Encourageinterfraternalcooperation,scholarship,andleadershipamongitsindividualmembers.
  5. CompletetheSet of Minimum Requirements, as specified by Fraternity and Sorority Life, eachyear.

Section 2Rights and Privileges of Standing Member Chapters

  1. VoteonallmotionsbroughtonthefloorofregularandspecialmeetingsoftheCouncil.
  2. Participateinrecruitmentactivitiesandextendbidstopotentialmembers.
  3. DelegatesofmemberchaptersthatareeligiblearepermittedtoholdelectedorappointedOfficerPositions.
  4. ParticipateinallInterfraternityCouncilprogramsandactivities,whichinclude,butarenotlimitedto:IntramuralSports, GreekWeek,GreekAwards,oranyUniversityandIFCsponsoredprogramming.
  5. ReceivecoverageinallofficialInterfraternityCouncilcorrespondenceandorothermaterialsitdistributes.

Section 3Rights and Privileges of Associate Member Chapters

A.Voteon all motionsbroughtonthe floorofregularandspecialmeetingsoftheCouncilexceptthosemotionsand petitions mentionedinArticleIIISection3ParagraphB oftheInterfraternityCouncilConstitution.

B.Participateinrecruitmentactivitiesandextendbidstopotentialmembers.

C.ParticipateinallInterfraternityCouncilprogramsandactivities,whichinclude,butarenotlimitedto:IntramuralSports, GreekWeek,GreekAwards,oranyUniversityandIFCsponsoredprogramming.

D.ReceivecoverageinallofficialInterfraternityCouncilcorrespondenceandorothermaterialsitdistributes.

Article X. AMENDMENTS

Section 1Presentation

  1. Bylawamendmentsby the Interfraternity Council shallbepresented by the IFC VP of OperationsinwritingtotheIFCExecutive Officers and IFC Adviser in an IFC Executive meeting. If accepted by the Council and Adviser, The IFC VP of Communications, or other designated officer, shall distribute the amendments, as well as a copy of the standing Bylaws, to each respective Interfraternal Organization this very same day. The amendments will then be voted on at the preceding official meeting of the Interfraternity Council.

Section 2Passing Amendment

  1. Bylawamendmentswillpasswithatwo-thirds (2/3)voteoftheeligiblecouncilmembership. Theamendmentwilltakeeffectimmediately following the passing of the amendment.
