Local dance studio owner achieves
Master Dance Educator status
Rockford, Illinois, September 1, 2013 – Suzy Smith, owner of Suzy’s Dance Studio in Rockford, recently achieved Master Dance Educator (MDE) status through the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters (CNADM).
Smith, who has owned Suzy’s Dance Studio for 19 years, earned MDE status through CNADM’s Certification Program that encourages members of the association to further their dance educations. To become a Master Dance Educator, Smith first completed 240 credits of participation at CNADM Dance Workshops and also passed a written and oral examination in order to earn the designation of Certified Dance Educator (CDE). She then went on to complete an additional 160 credits of workshop participation and authored a 12-page research paper on a topic related to dance to achieve MDE status.
“Earning Master Dance Educator status is something I wanted to do not just for the benefit of my students and peers, but also for myself,” said Suzy Smith, a CNADM member since 1985. “I believe it’s important to never stop learning and to continue to challenge myself along the way. This was definitely a challenge, but so worthwhile!”
