James Sanders said that they plan to use the Rice Bowl funds to increase the size of their building, which became even more cramped with the purchase of the freezer with last year’s funds. Our $2500 is only a portion of the $10,000 cost for the expansion, but they already have other groups in place who will fund the remaining amount.

Our Lady of La Vang / Health Fair & Cultural Day 2013 / To provide free food and drink for approx. 1,500 participants / $2,500 / N/A / Jim Pham explained more about their plans for the food for the Health Fair and Cultural Day. He said that, currently, their parish has no one place where they can all come together to celebrate Mass. On weekends, Mass is being celebrated in the Gym, High School and Community Center, and they are divided into Vietnamese, Spanish and English speaking communities. This event is designed to bring the entire community together for the Health Fair and then they will celebrate a trilingual Mass together, as one community, in the parking lot. There are a lot of poor in their community who will benefit from the Health Fair, and they plan to serve sandwiches and water with our funds for the event.

He said that he will adjust funds so that all the money is used for food, not staffing. He will be sending an amended accounting sheet.
