Stickney Browines

In July the Brownies held a Beetle Drive in the Youth Centre to raise funds for the unit. This was great fun and was attended, not only by Brownies and parents, but by members of the public too. We are hoping to hold more fundraising events in the future that involve the community so that we can take the Brownies on more exciting trips and complete badges.

The Brownies have just completed their Brownie traditions badge and broadened their knowledge about Guiding in general, just in time for the Big Brownie Birthday next year, when Brownies will be 100 years old.

In general Guiding news, Girlguiding have recently changed the Promise that girls take when they join Girlguiding UK. The focus has been redirected towards staying true to your own beliefs and serving your community, a positive message for people of all ages, not just members of Girlguiding.

Brownies will restart after the summer holidays on Thursday 12 September at 5.30pm in the Youth Centre. In addition Rainbows will be starting up, also on a Thursday evening, before the Brownie meetings. Rainbows are aged between 5 and 7 years old, and provides a great starting block for younger children who would like to become Brownies in the future.

If you are interested in Rainbows or Brownies, would like to become involved as a volunteer, or have any queries, please contact Jayne on 01205 481209 or
