Brenda King, United Kingdom. For over 10 years, Brenda has overseen the successful delivery of a youth development programme in the UK.Brenda is a UK representative on the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC). Between 2006 and 2008, she was President of the EESC’s specialized section in employment focusing on job growth and quality employment. From 2010 to 2013, Brenda chaired the EU-African Caribbean Pacific subcommittee where she successfully campaigned for 2015 to be the European Year for Development and Cooperation. Currently, she is rapporteur of an EESC report putting forward recommendations for civil society involvement in the implementation, monitoring and review of the post-2015 agenda in the EU.
An Le Nouail-Marlière, France, is advisor on European and international affairs to the General Confederation of Labour (CGT), and member of the EESC Employees group. Active in the sections "Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment" and "External Relations", she is also member of the EESC Sustainable Development Observatory. She has been Rapporteur on recent EESC opinions in the field of Sustainable Development Goals, water management, sustainable consumption and production and circular economy.
Staffan Nilsson, Sweden, is a farmer and veteran leader in the EESC. He has been its President from 2010 to 2013 and President and Vice-President of the various interests group for many years. Since 1995, when he became a member of the EESC, he has actively contributed his expertise to the work of the EESC, mainly in the fields of agriculture, sustainability, rural development and international cooperation. He has been rapporteur for opinions on the soil protection, the sustainable use of Pesticides, agriculture and food safety, and environmental technology – to mention but a few.
Andreas Versmann, Germany, works as an administrator for the secretariat of the Sustainable Development Observatory of the EESC. Before joining the EESC he was a policy officer in charge of promoting the circular economy in DG Environment of the European Commission. In more than 15 years at a ministry for environment in a German region he gained extensive experience in practical implementation of environmental policies on the ground. He has a background in law and political sciences.
