ROUXRIDGE RHODESIAN RIDGEBACKS
CONDITION OF SALE AGREEMENT - SHOW PROSPECT
1.I understand that I am purchasing a show potential (male) (female) puppy and
promise I will make a reasonable attempt to show him/her to AKC championship.
Either a handler/trainer or I will train the dog for the conformation ring and show
him/her.
2.If future breeding is to be considered, I agree to become a member of the Rhodesian
Ridgeback Club of the United States (RRCUS) and to follow the Code of Ethics,
especially regarding OFA or PENN Hip x-rays. I will become as knowledgeable as
possible regarding the Standard of the Breed and keep it in mind when breeding. I
will become familiar with potential health problems that may occur in the breed and do
everything in my power to reduce risks by making responsible choices.
3.I also will not breed my dog/bitch before a Champion title is attained or nearly attained,
and I will consult with his/her breeder regarding possible mates to determine whether
they qualify with traits that will better the breed. I understand that not all dogs or bitches
should be bred, including many of those who have reached their championship.
4.I acknowledge that this puppy has been checked by a veterinarian and declared to
be healthy, with no signs of disease, and that I will receive a health certificate along
with my puppy as well as a Bill of Sale, and AKC registration form and instructions
on feeding and future health care requirements.
5.I also agree that in naming this puppy, ROUXRIDGE, will be the first word
of the AKC registered name, and I also agree to stay in contact with the breeder
with periodic updates on the his/her health, progress and accomplishments.
6.It is recommended that all puppies should be taken to their new owner's vet for an
exam within 48-72 hours of receiving him/her, and I will do so with my new
puppy. If anything is found to be wrong with him/her, notwithstanding
improper care, I can return the puppy for another puppy or for a full refund.
7.I understand that I am purchasing this dog/bitch for life, and if at any time I cannot
keep him/her I will return him/her to the breeder. I will not sell or give away him/her
unless agreed to by the breeder. I also understand that I will not get my money back
unless I am returning him/her because of genetic flaw (such as hip dysplasia) which
would interfere with him/her being a show quality dog. Unpleasant behavior such as
jumping on people, chewing, or digging does not fall under "genetic reasons".
8.I will not vigorously road work (run hard and continuously) him/her until he/she
is 18 months or, nor will I allow him/her to play on wet or slippery surfaces or to jump and play physically out of control. To do so would negate any hip guarantees.
9.This dog/bitch will never be allowed to run the neighborhood unleashed, nor will
he/she be tied or chained outside. This dog/bitch is understood to be a 'house'
dog and will be housed in such a fashion - not in a dog coop in a yard or garage
situation.
10.He/She will never be allowed outside unfenced or unleashed with his/her owner unless
he/she has had formal obedience training. I understand that this breed is better trained with
positive reward technique, rather than negative.
11.I understand that it is important the puppy be exposed to situations to facilitate his/her
acceptance of the show ring. Ridgebacks are cautious by nature and aloof with strangers,
and I understand that by exposing him/her to as many people as possible, we are helping
to insure him/her to become a successful show dog. We will praise him/her whenever
allowing people to examine teeth and standing quietly for physical exams.
12.I understand that Ridgebacks should never be trained to be aggressive, but I understand
they have an innate nature that should be allowed to develop. I understand that by
encouraging this puppy to be accepting of strangers, I am in no way diminishing his/her
protective nature.
13.I understand that Ridgebacks are typically voracious eaters, and I will control his/her
amount of food and adjust accordingly. I will not free feed this puppy and allow him/her
to eat as much as it wants. It has been described to me what the proper appearance for a
Ridgeback is to help determine whether this puppy is at the proper weight for his/her
size. (A waist must be seen from above, ribs visible when turning.) I will feed this
puppy only puppy food that is suitable for a large breed of dog, or adult food.
