AGRICULTURE CLASS POLICIES AND EXPECTATIONS

What You Need for Class

  1. 3 Ring Binder (Large enough for a semester of handouts, notes, recordbook and journal, etc.)
  2. Notebook that clips into binder

What I Expect From YOU:

  1. Be Respectful
  2. Respect the right of others to learn.(Don’t be a distraction!)
  3. Use appropriate language at an appropriate volume.
  4. Focus on the teacher/speaker and/or classroom activity.
  5. No Cell Phones, IPods, or other electronic distractions.
  6. Remain seated until teacher dismissal.
  1. Be Responsible
  2. Be in Class. Be on time.
  3. Be prepared and in your assigned seat ready to learn before the bell rings.

Binders, Writing Utensil, Book, Homework, etc.

  • Participate and remain attentive.
  • Use classroom time wisely. (Get it Done!)
  • Help others be respectful, responsible and safe.
  • Clean up after yourself (AKA I’m Not Your Mother).

3. Be Safe

  • Treat yourself and others with respect.
  • Follow all classroom safety guidelines.
  • Use equipment for its intended purpose only.
  • Clean up all work areas. Student materials left out will be tossed.
  • Clean and properly store all equipment. You mistreat it – You BUY IT!!!
  • Act professionally. No rough housing or intentional bothering.

Do Something!!!

Use what you learn in Ag. Class to help you in other classes, at work, at home, etc. Put your skills to work.

  • You’ll always have help- Just ask!!!

AGRICULTURE GRADING GUIDELINES

Grades will be assigned on the following scale:

  • A’s = 90 - 100
  • B’s = 80 - 89
  • C’s = 70 - 79
  • D’s = 60 - 69
  • F = anything below 60

Breakdown of Grading:

  • 15% In Class Work and Binder: Bell Work/ Notes/Records/Participation
  • 30%Knowledge and SkillsAssessments including Tests, Quizzes and Projects
  • 10%Class Portfolio
  • 15%Action Project
  • 30%Class Assignments / Homework/ Projects This may include individual and group

projects, speeches, written reports…

In Class/Binder: Includes Handouts, Notes, Bell Work, Past Assignments, Records, etc. This also includes Lab Sheets, Observation Sheets, etc. completed during lab activities or regarding individual projects. Binders will be collected for grading periodically throughout the semester.

Action Project/Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE): All students will develop an individual agriculture related project/activity. This project must include a minimum of 10 hours of out of class work. Projects must be agriculture based and preferably relate to the class subject. Projects must be approved by the instructor. Projects could include volunteer work, agriculture employment, building/creating a product, conducting a research experiment, offering a service, etc. Students are required to keep record of hours spent, money spent, money earned, and a description of tasks/skills learned. At the end of the semester students will turn in a project summary including a description of the project, records, skills acquired, and five pictures.

Class Portfolio: Students will provide 4 portfolio exhibits of lessons learned in Ag. Class. Each exhibit must include an artifact (paper, test, project, assignment, etc.) and a 1 page reflection on knowledge/skills gained, applications to other subjects and application to future career opportunities. The action project report can count for one of the exhibits. An updated resume must also be included in the portfolio.

Late Work Policy:

  • If you were absent it is your responsibility to check the class white board for any work you may have missed, and take care of that in a timely manner.
  • ANY work that is handed in late within 1 week of the due date will be deducted 10%.After 1 week a 40% deduction will be taken.
  • If you have an EXCUSED absence – you will receive one day to make up that work for each day excused, and then it will become late work. Work from any unexcused absences can not be made up.

Agriculture Class Parent /Student Agreement

and SLC Travel Permission

Semester 1

As a part of the Agriculture curriculum there may be times throughout the semester when class will be conducted at the Severson Learning Center (SLC). The SLC is an 80 acre farm facility located at 37 Oakland Rd just outside of Cambridge. Transportation will always be provided by way of school van or bus. On days when class activities are at the SLC, students must report to the Ag. Room first and the class will depart as a group. Signing the form below gives permission for your student to travel to and from the SLC for class activities for the entire semester. Please also provide emergency contact information, allergies, etc. for your students.

All travel will take place in school vehicles and be supervised by Mrs. Klingbeil.
