2Minutes of the last meeting. 2 questions asked at the last meeting of the council have been answered.
(1) Why do the council not react via the press office when inaccurate reports are made in the local press? A The council do respond when they feel it is appropriate to do so.
(2) How best to approach the council if a formal application is made for a link road to CanveyIsland? A Get both of the local MP’s on board, would get cross border support.
Signed as a true record, Terry piccolo.
3Public Forum Nothing brought forward.

Operation Alexander has been targeting off road bikes, good trends.
6Church Hill Forum base.
Rubbish now all cleared, drains cleared and manhole cover renewed. Can we put locks on? The manholes only serve the community base at the moment, but this could change if the planning application goes through.
E-mail community service workers; get a team to decorate inside upstairs. Paint, rollers etc to be provided.
Down stairs, youth team worker, ideal project for Duke of Edinburgh Awards, or Princes Trust.
2 Notice boards, about £250 each to supply and fit. Approach B&Q for materials?
8 Councillors Report, Eddie Hardiman.
a) Visited Kynoch Court this morning; residents informed me of 700% increase in charges.
b) Traffic calming in the Corringham Road in the next month; with 3 mini roundabouts and a Zebra Crossing. Residents unhappy and have a petition, 90 against and only 2 for the changes. I will be seeing the council again tomorrow (Friday).
c) Less illegal motorcycles since Operation Alexander started.
d) The Hope Committee want to celebrate 10 years since their first meeting with a bench on The Green.
e) Police, the PCSO’s need more powers, Terry Hipsey agrees. Would need an Act of Parliament, what is the view of the Chief of Essex Police?
f) Bollards at the end of Wharf Road, too many vehicles are parking on the pavement. Terry Hipsey agrees (Forum may contribute to the costs, T.Piccolo).
g) St Margaret’s Church, planning to extend the hall, bigger and better. Church is Grade 1 listed, problem is trees, hall may detract from view of the Church
h) Kynoch Court, designed and built with baths rather than showers or wet rooms; will see what can be done.
i) Some council houses in Stanford West are single occupancy, stair lifts and wet rooms are very expensive, as these need to be removed when the resident moves on. The residents’ welfare comes first. (Lifelong living, T.Piccolo)
j) Does anyone know where a band can practice? (Tilbury recording studio?)
k) Piles of cigarette butts outside the Railway Tavern; no stub out boxes. Why don’t smokers use the garden?
7Thurrock Transport Forum (TFF)
Shaping Thurrock Transport Board, part of Sustainable Communities plan. Transport planning for the next 10 years, information on transport problems in Thurrock. Local government boards and local area agreements are so well done that only minor changes are needed. Need to be in to Terry Piccolo by 25th October. Piecemeal housing developments in resident parking zones, only legal minimum parking provided, only 2 parking permits per house, extras at £50 & £ 100! Bus service to Lakeside finishes before cinemas close, could a bus run at cinema, club hours? 17th December, presentation of strategic options.
7AReport on Stanford and Corringham master plan.
Crooked Billet presentation was poorly attended. Tour of Stanford and Corringham in busses, Corringham could be revamped, but Stanford XX! And start again! Report by January, to go for consultation; Stanford is known for its take-aways! There could be a restaurant plaza, how about a bus terminal, and craft shops. Could the field between Butts Road and Manorway Junction, be a community centre, park and ride, sports centre?
