Directions: Please select 4 choice activities. You should select 1 activity from each content area(4 total) andat least one from option C and at least one from option D. All activities are to be handed in with this paper stapled on the top to your RTI teacher. DO NOT TYPE ANY ASSSIGNMENTS.Technology is reserved for research.

A / Choose 10 of the new root words. Write a 10 sentence short story using each of the roots meaning in the sentence.For example, “I went home and tried onamphi(both) my new dresses.I found that my newvest(clothes) looked great on me.The looked so good that I didn’t want to take them off mycorp(body).Instead I went todorm(sleep) in them.” / Research and make a list of 10 different professions that involve math on a daily basis and find out how much those jobs make per hour or for the salary per year. / Write a 15 question multiple choice quiz about WWII in Europe. Include a separate key. / Create a crossword puzzle using at least 15 science terms from this year. Include a key.
B / Choose 20 of the new root words. Create an answer key for each one. / Draw 2 political cartoons in the style of Dr. Seuss. Each 1 must be about 1 of the following topics- island hopping, Manhattan Project, Battle of Midway, Battle of the Coral Sea or Japan’s code of honor. / Research a scientist in an area of science that is interesting to you. Write a 3 paragraph biography of the scientist. Cite your sources.
C / Using your newest roots list, combine roots to create a new word. Write a denotation (definition) for that word, draw a picture and use the word in a sentence.Tell whether your word has a positive, negative, or neutral connotation and why.Create 10 new words, using 20 of the words.Example:Word:benemorphDenotation:good shapeSentence:After working out for many months, I was in benemorph.Connotation:positivePicture: / Create 5 table of linear functions and write the slope intercept form equation for each one. Then graph the line for each equation. / Write a 1 page diary or journal entry from the perspective of a soldier in the Battle of Midway. Include the names of important individuals there, describe the location, what happened in the battle and why it is significant. / Read Chapter 4 in the Motion and Forces textbook. Create a list of at least 10 key concepts from that section and then write a brief explanation of each one.
D / Using your newest roots list, combine roots to create a new word. In your essay include the job’s salary, daily routines, college education or certifications needed for that profession. Also include similar jobs that would be interesting if that career did not work out for you. / Research one of the following Holocaust survivors - Gerda Weissmann Klein or Elie Wiesel. Take notes on their life and experiences (must equal 1 page). Write a 1 page letter to that survivor. Include in the letter your reactions to their experiences and questions you have for them. / Research and find a scientific discovery that has occurred in the last 3 years. Write a summary of the discovery (what it was) and then explain how this discovery is useful or important to us. Finally, explain the process that the scientists went through to make the discovery. Cite your sources.

If you are in a small group with a teacher (finishing up an assignment, retaking a test, etc), then please have that teacher sign in the box for credit for ½ an activity above (2 signatures equal one choice activity). Core teachers will only sign off on their content area’s activities. This paper will then need to be submitted to your RTI teacher on the due date to make sure that you get credit for your small group attendance.
