REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

MARCH 13, 2017

Mayor Snow called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

INVOCATION:

CHIEF WILLIAM C. McNEILL, CAMPOBELLO POLICE DEPARTMENT

Chief McNeill discussed with council the ins and outs of having a police department. He informed council that within the local government police departments, they are willing to help in anyway; all you have to do is ask. He spoke on how rotation of officers worked the uniforms, vehicles, vest, guns and etc.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

The minutes of the Regular Scheduled Council Meeting held on February 13, 2017 was approved as written.

The minutes of the Workshop held on February 27, 2017 was approved as written.

The minutes of the Special Council Meeting held on March 7, 2017 was approved as written.

OLD BUSINESS:

1. SANITATION (436 TO DATE): There have been 5 containers delivered since the town’ last meeting.

2. ROAD IMPROVEMENT AT LEONARD DR. AND DUNCAN REIDVILLE RD.: Mayor Snow spoke with the contractor HNO Grading about the time frame of starting the project. Response received was that the owner has been sick.

3. PLANNING COMMISSION (2): There were no nominations.

COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS AND DEPARTMENT REPORTS:

1. LAMPPOSTS MAIN STREET, STONES (ENGRAVING): No update.

2. MAIN ST. WEST END EROSION PROBLEM: Chris Gowan delivered dirt and filled in where rain water has washed the dirt creating ruts. Before sod is put in place; we need a way of watering it every day. A suggestion was made to purchase the ground cover that has seed and fertilizer.

3. FALL FESTIVAL (OCTOBER 7, 2017): Mayor Snow said we need to start now on the gathering what is needed for the festival.

4. 2017 ELECTION: Tomorrow March 14, 2017 the election for Mayor. Candidates are Rodney Bunch and Andrew Dixon.

5. MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT: We need to purchase a flat shovel and a battery operated pole saw. No vote was taken.

6. MAYORS REPORT: Walter Eugene Snow addressed the council members and thanked them and the council members before them for the past twenty years. To the citizens of the Town of Reidville; I thank you for allowing me the honor of being Mayor. I wish the best for the mayor-elect. I will work with him; all he has to do is ask.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. SEARCH FOR A CLERK: Clerk Gowan provided council with a copy of an advert for a Part Time Clerk to replace her when she retires soon (See Attached). The cost of the ad for one day is $285.15 or for 7 days for $370.70.

Council Member Palmer Burchstead made a motion to place the ad for 7 days at $370.70. Second: Council Member Vickie Pittman No discussion. All in favor.

2. POLICE DEPARTMENT: Council discussed the police department in detail; no action taken.

FINANCIAL REPORT:

The financial report beginning February 1, 2017 and ending February 28, 2017 was approved as written.
