2) The sharing of AXIS 1 Forms: Exchanges - Debate –

1:The First World War in the curriculums and the handbooks.

Comparative analysis.

Two forms were designed for this axis..

The first one (1A) deals with curriculums of each participating country. The decision taken was to limit our collection to the curriculums dedicated to the 14 to 18 year-old students. This form should enable us to draw a comparative analysis of the different curriculums at the European dimension.

The second form deals with handbooks. It focuses on the importance of the First World War in these handbooks, the headings and the skeleton of the different chapters, and the main topics which are developed.

The synthesis that will be achieved and proposed during the next meeting in Poland.

Thus, please, thank you to complete these forms before15th January 2008 and send them to:

Frédéric Rousselle (IFP Lille)

Who will collect and send them to INFOREF so as to upload the website.

Address mail Frédéric Rousselle:

3) Elaboration of the form / Axis 2 questionnaire

Summary of AXIS2:The First World War in the history lesson.

The teachers’ methods, exchange and comparison of the sequences/lessons dealing with one aspect of the conflict.

Beyond the curriculum’s demands and contents of the handbooks, what is taught and studied with the students.?

Elaboration of a form under a questionnaire shape to be dealt by each partner to 5 history teachers working in 5 different schools.

This form was completed on Saturday afternoon, by the members of the technical committee.

It will be sent as soon as possible to each partner.

It focuses on the plans and skeletons of the lessons on 5 topics (the origins of the war/ the key events/ the key actors/ the new dimension of the conflict/ the peace treaties and their consequences).

It would be fully interesting that the participating teachers give us both their e-mail address and their schools’ ones, so that we could communicate with them.

These forms will be filled in by the teachers themselves.

Please, make sure that these forms are filled in, translated in French or in English and send to us before the mid of March, so that we can exploit them for the next meeting in POLAND.

If possible, it would be very helpful if you can join the original sources which were used for the lesson, under JPEG Format, or failing that, to mention the source.
