MINUTES OF PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP
HELD ON TUESDAY 1st AUGUST 2017
AT INVERKEITHING SURGERY
Present: Helen Doig, Jan Rea, Colin Hay, Andrea Hynes-Whalley, Sara Ramsay, Elizabeth McKenzie, Barry Pulham, Lawson Rennie, Mac McCaskill.

MATTERS DISCUSSED
Introduction and welcome Lawson Rennie and Barry Pulham.
The group welcomed Lawson and Barry to the meeting. A brief outline of the group’s aims and goals were discussed.
Minutes from June 2017 meeting – All
PPG recruitment: Barry and Lawson expressed an interest in the group and attended the 1st August meeting to learn more about the PPG.
Value my GP: Elizabeth provided feedback from fellow patients.
Natural Health Service: discussed as an agenda item.
SPIRE: No further patients from the practice have asked to opt out of the project.
BP Pod: discussed as an agenda item.
Table for DB waiting room: none currently available.
ANP leaflet – All
Help is still needed to help develop the ANP patient information leaflet. Andrea will commence on a draft and email Karl (ANP) for advice and input.
BP Pod project set up. – All
Sara will take lead in this project with input from Andrea. Elizabeth will write awareness articles for the Keithing newsletter and the DB Diary. Andrea will email a conversion chart for heights and weights to Mac to print out for the Pod room.
Natural Health Service database. Allocation of roles – All
Mac will continue as lead with this project with additional input and support from Colin.

Practice Workload for July included: (Please note addition of a 3rd ANP and A/L of clinical staff will be reflected in this month’s figures)

205 patients did not attend their appointments with clinicians.
7273 patients now registered for online bookings.
185 cancelled appointments.
AOB – All
Dr Ward has joined the practice as a Locum GP.
It is understood by the group that online registration cancels if the patient has not logged on after 6 months. Andrea will follow this up with Paul in IT.
The rise in patients not attending appointments and failing to cancel is an ongoing concern with the PPG.
It was brought to the group’s attention that prescriptions are being requested by patients but are not being collected from reception. Completed prescriptions are not being collected from pharmacies either.
Barry discussed his concern in the rise of wasted prescribed medications. This can be considered as a future PPG awareness project
Andrea asked the group if anyone wished to join her as a guest at the Hat and Ribbon race in Inverkeithing on Friday 4th August. Mac and Jan expressed an interest.
