Godsman/Literacy Squared®: Language and Biliteracy Scholarship

The Godsman/Literacy Squared®: Language and Biliteracy program is a language and biliteracy-based School of Education program to earn an endorsement to teach culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students.Teachers graduating from this program will earn the credits necessary for a CLD endorsement. Successful completion of these credits will also put teachers well along the path to earning a Master’s degree. In fact, there are only two additional courses required for the Master’s degree. Funding from the grant will pay for the endorsement classes, but tuition for the remaining two classes will be the responsibility of the student. Should additional funding become available, we will make every effort to assist you with this additional tuition.

Teachers selected to participate in this program will form a cohort that will begin taking classes Summer 2014 and will finish taking classes Summer 2016. Teachers are expected to take one class each fall, spring, and summer until all required credits have been earned (24 credits total). Fall and spring courses generally meet once per week from approximately 4:30-7:30 p.m. Each summer class meets for 3-4 weeks every weekday for 3 hours (e.g. M-F, 9:00-12:00).

Classes are coordinated by the staff of The BUENO Center for Multicultural Education and CU Boulder School of Education. Courses will likely be located at Godsman Elementary. If selected to participate, you will commit to commute to the course location, pay for all books and materials, and attend class and complete all assignments. In exchange, we pay your course tuition.

Tuition for this program is provided through a Federal Grant. As such, the funding period is limited to the time period outlined above. Students must make continued steady progress to complete the program before the funding expires.
