12:00 pmConvene at the Hoover State Office Building at E. 13th & Walnut, on the Northwest side of the Hoover Building under the trees, andReceive a FREE ADA Bracelet & Bottle of Water. Park at the Hoover Building Lot 26 or Lot 4 of the Iowa Supreme Court Building.
12:20 pmBegin the ADA Celebration March to the Shattering Silence Monument outside of the Iowa Supreme Court Building at E. 11th & Court Avenue. This will be an approximate 2-3 block roll/walk on mostly flat sidewalk.
12:40 pmConvene at the Shattering Silence Monument at the Iowa Supreme Court Building. Speakers and Awards/Certificates Presented to Individuals and Businesses forADA Title I (Employment), Title II (State and Local Government), and Title III (Public Accommodations).
1:25 pmRinging of the Peace Bell to Signify Each of the 25 Years of the ADA
1:30 pmRefreshments
EVENT ACCESSIBILITY & ACCOMMODATIONS FOR ALL:
- A Sign Language Interpreter will be provided for the event.
- Some limited accessible transportation is available, such as bus tokens or the D Line. Please contact staff at the Central Iowa Center for Independent Living (CICIL) to make arrangements at 515-243-1742. Paratransit Users: Please schedule your trip ASAP to allow for as much advanced planning as possible for DART.
- Accessible restrooms are available in both the Hoover Building and the Iowa Supreme Court Building.
- Power Scooter/Chair Users: Please bring plastic to cover your controls in the event of rain.
- All: Please dress accordingly for the weather-plan for heat and/or possible rain.
- All: Shade tents and chairs will be provided at the Monument during the program.
- All: If possible, please wear REDBLUE shirts as these are the ADA Logo colors!
