Norbert Wartenberg is the head of human resources at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Germany GmbH. In this position he actively initiates and coordinates human resources development activities in Europe and beyond.
How many engineers, technical specialists and managers is your company looking for right now?In what fields and specialisations? How many jobs will be on offer at the Job & Career Market at HANNOVER MESSE 2011?
Currently, there are five advertised jobs at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Germany GmbH:in purchasing, IT, sales and development.But we are very flexible about that number.If we know that, in any department, there will be a position opening up in the mid-term due to retirement, we are prepared to consider immediately any potentially interesting applications. So we will be offering more than just those five positions at HANNOVER MESSE 2011.
Are there any problems specific to your sector of industry in terms of recruitment?How did recruitment work in the past and how does it work now?
Even though Trelleborg is a global company and generate more than three billion Euros a year in revenue,we are for the most part only known to insiders, which is certainly due to our line of business. TSS develop, produce and sell sealing solutions – which doesn’t put us in the limelight to the same extent as a car manufacturer active in e-mobility or a company that builds wind power plants. However,without our high tech sealing solutions,turbines wouldn’t turn, cars wouldn’t drive and many industrial facilities would simply shut down.
Our challenge is in putting across what is exciting about our line of business. That’s why weuse venues like HANNOVER MESSE to look for possible candidates. Because we are always looking for employees who are in contactwith us on a personal level, we now place more emphasis than before on company open days and internships.
What are the trademark features of your company's personnel policy?What are your focuses in recruitment and human resources development?
As a global player developing sophisticated sealing solutions, for us at Trelleborg Sealing Solutions the team is the key point .We promote natural co-operation and remove obstacles that hinder this process. I see myself and my colleaguesin human resources as facilitators helping along the team process. If you look at howyoung football teams likeBorussia Dortmund are currently performing – that’s exactly what we want to do. A winning team is always more than the sum of its players in terms of performance.
As solution providers, all of our employees maintain close contact and exchange information both with each other and with customers. None of our work remains unchanging – each project demands great flexibility and presents exciting opportunities for action. People who are willing to participate in such a team-oriented working environment will be received with open arms. Expert knowledge is not the key factor for us in screening applicants. In the same way that we look at applicants’ and employees’ potential, we in turn demonstrate to them what opportunities for personal development they will have by working for us. Of course, we also offer appropriate salary.
