As part of [Council’s] commitment to sustainable procurement, it is desirable that tenderers’ register with Sustainable Choice ( along with their products applicable to this tender. Any tenderer awarded a contract as a result of this tender process is requested to remain registered on the Sustainable Choice sustainable products and services online database for the duration of the contract. Registration is free of charge.
[Council] is committed to the principles of Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) as defined in the Local Government Act 1993 and therefore considers competitiveness from an environmental, social and economic perspective. All else being equal, preference will be given to those bids which best demonstrate commitment to ESD and where the tenderer, along with their products applicable to this tender, are listed on the Sustainable Choice online database.
Tenderers are required to demonstrate their ongoing commitment to sustainability and how their operative functions, in relation to the supply of the Goods and/or Services, consider sustainability as an integral element.
Tenderers’ responses should include but not be limited to:
a)Whole of product life cycle i.e. production & packaging, repair & maintenance, disposal.
b)Sourcing and procurement from a sustainability perspective.
c)Alternative technology and forward thinking opportunities.
d)Continuous improvement methodologies.
e)Design, manufacturability, materials, planned life expectancy etc.
