Whereas: Student Senate is elected by the Student Body to represent and voice the opinions of students; and
Whereas: Student Senate is a means by which student concerns are addressed; and
Whereas:Kappa Alpha Theta, Theta, is a Panhellenic sorority that was chartered in 1870 as a way for young women to make friends and find support and encouragement for their academic pursuits; and
Whereas:Baylor Thetas received their National Charter in 1976; and
Whereas:Many graduates find themselves asking the questions: “Who am I?”, “What do I want?”, and “How do I get it?”; and
Whereas:On January 21, 2009 in Kayser Auditorium Theta will host Christine Hassler, a life coach, to lead a lecture titled “Expectation Hangovers”; and
Whereas:Christine is a successful life coach who has written several books and has a counseling emphasis specializing in relationships, career, and self-identity; and
Whereas:Christine began her evolution as a twenty something expert with a discussion group for twenty-something's in Los Angeles struggling with questions about themselves, their career, and relationships. As she continued her investigation of herself and others, she began to craft a roadmap for how to transform "twenty-something" into "twenty-everything." Christine has dedicated over six years in researching and speaking about this rite of passage in life; and
Whereas:As a professional speaker, Christine leads seminars and workshops to audiences around the country. She has appeared on The Today Show, CNN, and PBS,as well as various local television and radio shows, speaking about life issues and "Expectation HangoversTM" - a phenomenon she identified and trademarked; and
Whereas:The budget for the event is as follows:

Therefore:Be it resolved by the 56th Legislative Session of the Baylor University Student Senate assembled that $3150 be allocated from the Student Government Allocation Fund (SGAF) to Kappa Alpha Theta for the purpose of funding a lecture by Christine Hassler.
Furthermore: This event is free to all Baylor students, faculty, and staff.
Furthermore:The honorarium is all-inclusive.
Furthermore:Any unused money allocated to the sisters of Kappa Alpha Theta will be promptly returned to the SGAF, and any additional funds raised will be used to offset the costs.
Furthermore:Due to national regulations, Theta cannot ask members to fundraise or make financial contributions over their current dues unless it is for their philanthropy.
Furthermore:Kappa Alpha Theta has agreed to meet with the Attorney General within seven (7) business days after the lecture takes place for a final expense report in which all receipts will be presented.
Furthermore: The Student Government and Student Government Allocations Fund will be given due credit in compliance with the SGAF Branding Requirements.
