Tesco Colleagues in (insert location) raise (£xxx) to help improve the health of the nation

- Tesco fundraisers join together with Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation (BHF) to save lives –

Tesco Colleagues from (insert store) raised more than (£xxx) at (insert event) for the National Charity Partnership between Tesco, Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation (BHF), last weekend.

The fundraising event, for Diabetes UK and the BHF, (insert details of the event – what they did, for how long, or how far, how many people were involved). The money raised will help to fund projects across the UK which will encourage millions of people to reduce their risk of heart disease and Type 2 diabetes by leading a healthier lifestyle.

The three year partnership between Tesco, Diabetes UK and the BHF aims to raise millions of pounds to help save lives through helping millions of people to eat better and get active, reducing their risk of serious ill-health in the future, as well as helping to fund the vital work of the BHF and Diabetes UK across the UK.

About the National Charity Partnership:

  • Tesco, Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation are working together to help change the nation’s health for the better
  • The partnership aims to help people to reduce their risk of heart and circulatory disease and Type 2 diabetes, both of which are largely preventable through healthy lifestyle choices
  • The partnership aims to raise £30 million over three years, which will be split equally between Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation

  • In the UK, 3.5 million people are diagnosed with diabetes. In addition, there are 549,000 people who have Type 2 diabetes but don’t know they have it because they haven’t been diagnosed. 11.9 million people are at increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, and if current trends continue an estimated 5 million people will have diabetes by 2025
  • There are also an estimated 7 million people living with heart and circulatory disease in the UK and many more at serious risk
