BIOL242
Exams will include both a lecture and laboratory component. The lab component may include, but is not limited to: labeled models, labeled/dissected samples, microscope slides (either printed images, or viewed with microscope), sample laboratory data, laboratory equipment.
For Exam 2, here is a general list of what you are responsible for with respect to lab (and, please remember to look over all Lab handouts and pre labs, too).
Lab 30- Anatomy of the Heart
-Histology of cardiac muscle tissue.
-Gross anatomy of the heart (see lab handout for required structures/chambers/vessels).
-Blood flow through the heart and great vessels.
Vernier Lab EKG
-Understand the EKG, be able to label/interpret a sample EKG trace.
-Understand what equipment is required for EKG.
Lab 32- Blood Vessels
-Gross anatomy- see Blood Vessel list on Exam 2 objectives!
-Histology of blood vessels.
Lab 33A- Cardiovascular Physiology
-Understand arterial blood pressure (be able to explain how to measure BP, what it means), pulse pressure and MAP.
-Understand what equipment is required for blood pressure readings.
-Understand the effects of postural changes on BP and pulse
Lab 35- Lymphatic System
-Gross anatomy of lymphatic organs/tissues- lymph nodes, thymus, spleen.
- Hisotlogy of lymphatic organs/tissues- lymph nodules (like Peyer’s patches), lymph nodes, thymus.
